Traveling in the Candi Prambanan was really an experience as it gave me a treasured expereince of visiting a UNESCO world heritage site that feature Indonesian. Hindus culture and architecture. Definitely a must see in Yogyakarta. The location of this temple is approximately 30 minutes from the city center. Entrance fee is US$ 18 for adult foreigner. Half for foreign student showing their student card. Local tourist is much cheaper.
The site is particularly impressive during the full moon time, seen from the other site. The site where we watch the Ramayana ballet. With special lighting, the Candis is beautifully back dropping the dance, through out. Happy vacation

Lies in the same province of Borobudur temple, Prambanan is another magnificent temple the you can visit when you are in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
The temple was recognised as UNESCO world heritage in 1991. I bet you will be mesmerised once you arrive at the masterpiece of the Hindu culture of the ninth century.
The admission ticket to this temple is quite cheap for local (IDR.48,000), while international tourist should pay IDR.348,000 (around US$.24).

Borobudur Temple Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
9th Century Architectural Marvel
My visit to Borobudur Temple in Central Java, Indonesia was eye opening. Located about 1 hours drive to Yogyakarta, it was akin to stepping into a world of ancient wonders. If you have been there, you would agree that this massive temple, built over 1,000 years ago, is truly a breathtaking architectural marvel. And beyond just being a pretty sight, the rich cultural heritage and history makes this a must see for anyone visiting the Yogyakarta region.
Currently (as of March 2024), we can now have full access to the temple structure but there is a daily limit of 1,200 visitors. I highly recommend getting the Temple Guided Tour ticket from Trip.com, as opposed to the Borobudur Temple Tickets, as having a guide that explains a brief history of the temple, the carvings on the wall, the religious context etc makes a world of difference. Having made you way there, wouldn’t you want to also go up the temple structure (up the the 9th level)? Also, you get a free pair of sandals when you join the full tour!

Borobudur Temple, Yogyakarta
Located on the island of Java, the magnificent Borobudur temple is the world's largest Buddhist monument with 504 Buddha stupas, an ancient site widely considered to be one of the world's seven wonders.
Borobudur is a Unesco World Heritage site!
Heaven on Earth indeed, one feels blessed and relieves all the tension when you are up there, the feeling of Nirvana.
Catch buddha at sunrise, nature, hidden ones
Should you chance upon the opportuntity to be one of the 1200 allowed to enter the top of this temple, you should really visit.
There is nature views to enjoy right at the top and also the chance to see hidden buddha under the stupa. No wonder it is a popular attraction.

Captivated by the Ancient Architecture
Borobudur is the largest Buddhist temple in the world, located on the island of Central Java. This temple was built in the ninth century AD. At that time, Indonesia was still a Buddhist kingdom (Syailendra dynasty).
The temple was built to serve as a place of worship for Buddhists. Seen from above, Borobudur looks like a large Mandala, representing the human journey from reincarnation (samsara) to nirvana (nirvana).
The Borobudur Temple has 9 floors (6 square terraces and 3 circular terraces). This terraced world is divided into three levels: Kamadhatu (the lowest is the world of desire), Rupadhatu (the middle is the real world) and Arupadhatu (the circular platform is the world of spirit).
The platform of Borobudur Temple is higher and smaller. There are also four staircases in four sections (east, south, west, north). Borobudur consists of 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. There is a main pagoda in the highest upper part, surrounded by 72 pagodas

Prambanan Archaeological Museum Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
If Jakarta is the financial and industrial center of Java, then Yogyakarta is the soul of Java, the center of Java's artistic and cultural heritage. Therefore, for 11 consecutive hours of running fatigue, it disappeared invisible at the moment of landing in Yogyakarta. Mysterious Java, I am finally here.
The Prambanan temple complex built in the 10th century is the largest Shiva complex in Indonesia. Six temples rise in the middle of the Concentric Square: three of the main temples are decorated with reliefs of the Ramayana epic, dedicated to the three Hindu gods (Shiva, Vishnu and Rama); The temple was built to protect the animals of the gods. The Prambanan temple complex is the largest and most beautiful Hindu temple in Indonesia today and is the carrier of the splendid culture of Indonesian ancestors. Most of the
Pranbanan temple complex has been reduced to a pile of rubble, but after the vicissitudes of natural and man-made disasters, some of the major temples have been rebuilt under the efforts of people, and they have revived the past.
