Bukit Batu Chondong, Kemensah

Bukit Batu Chondong’s similarity in topography to Bukit Tabur, its proximity to Kuala Lumpur city centre and its nearly unspoiled views make it an increasingly sought out destination amongst hikers. Sections of the trail weave in and out of Hulu Gombak Forest Reserve placing it under the purview of the Selangor Forestry Department. This usually means a permit to enter is necessary. Bukit Batu Chondong’s accessibility is another reason for its growing popularity. Depending on your fitness level, it takes between 20 to 40 minutes to get from the trailhead on Jalan Taman Zooview to the first of Bukit Batu Chondong’s 6 lookout points. Distance-wise it’s a paltry 700 metres, but … it’s all uphill, some of it steep, with the final stretch requiring a little bit of rope work and a certain level of confidence.
