Puning Temple was built in 1755 (the 20th year of Qianlong), it is a typical temple combining Han and Tibetan styles, and it is currently the only royal temple in Chengde with resident monks. Puning Temple is a 5A scenic spot and a World Heritage Site. The name 'Puning' means 'peace under the sky, protecting all beings', and it is the temple with the most incense in the Chengde area. The most worth seeing in the temple is the world's largest gilded wood carving Buddha statue - the Thousand-Handed and Thousand-Eyed Guanyin Bodhisattva, which is 28 meters high and weighs 110 tons, with 42 arms and 43 eyes, and can be called a treasure of world art.
