Winter around Sapporo - Shikotsu Lake 2024 First Ice Wave Festival

Shikotsu Lake National Park held its first ever Ice Wave Festival, starting on 1/27. Although it is said to be a mini version compared to the Ice Sculpture Festival in Harbin, it is already very amazing for friends from the south. Shikotsu Lake is formed by volcanic eruptions, and there are hot spring mouths under the lake, so even the cold Hokkaido lake surface will not freeze. The snowy scenery along the way is very beautiful, and many deer are seen. Transportation here seems not very convenient, you can carpool or charter a car, if you charter a car, you can stay longer, watch a sunset, and have a barbecue!
