New York Outskirts Tour I Eisenhower Farm Park

🔥 Check in to the US National Parks: 4/100 I revisited Gettysburg specifically to visit this national park. My first visit was in winter when the attractions were not yet open. The tours start on April 5th, so I made sure to come on the first weekend they were open, just in time for a tour. Parking is at the base of the hill, and you follow the signs up to the house on the hill, where staff will hand out explanatory cards. If you're among the first 40 people before the scheduled time, you can join that session's Guided Tour. The staff will first explain relevant information outdoors, and after gathering briefly inside the house, you can start your self-guided tour. The house has 2 floors with 16 rooms in total. The staff will provide a booklet with descriptions of each room. The room to the left after entering looks like a large collection museum, filled with precious collectibles given to Eisenhower. Passing through it, you'll find a well-lit porch that's cozily furnished, including an unfinished oil painting. Going up the stairs to the second floor, you'll mainly find various bedrooms, living rooms, and dressing rooms. The bedroom of the lady of the house, Mamie, is particularly eye-catching, filled with pink, including the toilet and bed linens. It is said that after turning 50, she insisted on not getting out of bed before noon. If she had to deal with letters and other matters, she would do so while lying in bed, propped up by pillows, which also paints her as an elegant and endearingly old lady. After touring the house, you can check out the garage, barn, and golf course next to the building. There's even a helipad here. You can also walk down to the farm and follow the trail. The farm is quite large and even has a herd of cows. After visiting Eisenhower's former residence and farm park, you can drive to Gettysburg and take a driving tour of the battlefield park. ✨Eisenhower National Historic Site✨ 🕙 Opening Hours: From April 5th to May 27th, every Friday to Sunday from 11:00 to 14:00, there is a tour at every hour. 💰 Ticket Price: Free admission, but you need to register on-site to participate in the Tour. There are 4 tours a day, each limited to 40 people. 🔖 Stamp Collection: You can get a map and stamp at the kiosk outside the residence, or you can go to the Gettysburg Visitor Center to get a stamp.
