Gobi Desert, Dunhuang

The often perceived image of the desert is hot and arid, with very little water and sandy dunes spreading for miles and miles. However, a desert in geographical terms is a place with little rainfall. With that in mind the Gobi Desert in northern China and southern Mongolia, is a dry large stretch of land, but relatively speaking, has little sand, and large open areas of grassland. And believe me when I say, it is freezing. To visit the crescent spring and the sand dunes is pretty straight forward, just as the rest of China, the ticketing system is standardized and a quick show of your health code and suddenly you're surrounded by sandy mountains and camels.
