Millennial Ancient Architecture: The Past and Present of Huazhou Academy

Located in Maoming, Guangdong 📍, Huazhou Academy (No44) is a historical building that dates back to the Northern Song Dynasty. It is situated at the southern corner of Baoshan Park in the west of Huazhou, leaning against Baoshan 🧗‍♀️ to the north and facing the post road (now Guanghai Highway) 🛣️ to the south. The original structures were the palace school and Shilong Academy 📚. In the second year of the Jiading era of the Song Dynasty (1209), the Chongsheng Temple 🛕 was also built. In the fifteenth year of the Zhi Zheng era of the Yuan Dynasty (1355), the Dacheng Hall, east and west side halls, and lecture hall (Minglun Hall) were rebuilt 🧱. Today, Huazhou Academy showcases the style of Qing Dynasty architecture, with red walls and yellow glazed tiles, constructed from earth, wood, brick, and stone, featuring a distinctive character 👍.
