Chongxing Wei is located in Shanchi Village, Longchuan, Guangdong

Chongxing Wei was built by Xie Yunchong, the 18th generation descendant of Xie Dieshan, a national hero of the Southern Song Dynasty, a patriotic poet, who was known as 'Zhao Yang'. His grandfather, Xie Renzhong, was a 'thousand-household marquis' and a wealthy and famous figure in Longchuan County during the Kangxi period. His father, Yu Rong, was the Right Deputy Minister of the Ministry of War. The construction of Chongxing Wei started in the early Qianlong period (1730-1740) and took 10 years to complete. Chongxing Wei covers an area of 20 acres, with more than 150 rooms, 22 courtyards of various sizes, and 25 halls and parlors. The outer walls of the fortress are about 11 meters high with a thickness of 60 cm, made of extremely hard lime mixed walls. The fortress has two floors, and in the middle is the main house with three vertical and four horizontal structures and four corner towers, making it highly defensive. It has a history of over 270 years. It has withstood numerous harassments by bandits and several attacks by the National Army. In the old times, when technology was not as advanced, these walls were sufficient to withstand enemy attacks.
