Suggestion of places to visit in Queenstown Once you’re in Queenstown, there will be only one road driving to Glenorchy. It was a 40 – 50 minutes scenic drive from the main town to a scenic lookout – Bennets Bluff overlooking the lake, and it was mostly smooth driving for another 1/2 hour to reach Lake Wakatipu. Glenorchy – Lake Wakatipu and a few stunning scenery in the Lord of the Ring. Lake Wakatipu was used for scenes involving Lothlorien, an ancient forest in the movie.
