Most archaeologists believe that Machu Picchu was built as an estate for the Inca emperor Pachacuti (1438–1472). Often mistakenly referred to as the “Lost City of the Incas” (a title more accurately applied to Vilcabamba), it is the most familiar icon of Inca civilization. The Incas built the estate around 1450 but abandoned it a century later at the time of the Spanish Conquest. Although known locally, it was not known to the Spanish during the colonial period and remained unknown to the outside world until American historian Hiram Bingham brought it to international attention in 1911.
Machu Picchu was built in the classical Inca style, with polished dry-stone walls. Its three primary structures are the Inti Watana, the Temple of the Sun, and the Room of the Three Windows. Most of the outlying buildings have been reconstructed in order to give tourists a better idea of how they originally appeared. By 1976, thirty percent of Machu Picchu had been restored and restoration continues.
Machu Picchu was declared a Peruvian Historical Sanctuary in 1981 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. In 2007, Machu Picchu was voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in a worldwide Internet poll.

The 7th Wonder
Machu Picchu, one of seven New Wonders of the World and undoubtedly Perù's number one tourist attraction. The UNESCO World Heritage site is also very desirable to the new generation of bloggers, podcasters or those just wanting 'that picture,' you know the elevated picture that covers the entire site without anyone photo-bombing or otherwise interfering with the shot. The most famous home of the Inca's meant even more to us than a picture to impress your friends. The 7th Wonder of the world was just that, the last one standing - we had been to all of the rest and after a couple of false starts we were on our way. After a train ride through the Andes that was priceless in itself - followed by an adrenaline filled bus ride on a track not much wider than the bus, we arrived at the entrance. Touching distance, but hold your horses another couple hundred steps on foot, and breathe.
All of the superlatives used to describe Machu Picchu are correct. Most of the site is original and untouched since the sixteenth century when it was abandoned until 1911. The walls and terraces gives us a view into the past and into a culture that once thrived. Keen Astromers, Mathematicians and Engineers the Inca's literally built a city of stone in the sky that we can all enjoy five hundred years later. Awesome seems a feeble understatement when used in the same sentence as Machu Picchu, it was simply brilliant. #machupicchu #southamerica #mountains

Antarctic Journey 3: Impressive Machu Picchu in Peru
When you go to Peru, you must visit Machu Picchu, the outstanding achievement of the Inca Empire and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Machu Picchu has a total of 140 buildings including temples, shelters, parks, and residences, as well as over 100 staircases, and a large number of fountains and a complete irrigation system. According to archaeologists, Machu Picchu consists of three parts: the Sacred District, the Popular District to the south, and the District of Priests and Nobility (residential area). The 'Intiwatana', 'Temple of the Sun', and 'House of the Three Windows' dedicated to the greatest sun god Inti in the Sacred District are the main treasures of great archaeological value.

e City in the Sky—Machu Picchu
Machu Picchu, in the Quechua language used by the Inca Empire at the time, means 'Old Peak', so Machu Picchu is actually not the name of the city, but the name of the mountain. The name of the city is unknown; there is a taller peak nearby called Huayna Picchu.
The first mystery of Machu Picchu is its builders and purpose of construction. There is not a single word or mural inside the entire city of Machu Picchu, and since the Inca civilization did not have a written language, there is absolutely no information about this city. So, if there are no records about this city, how do we know it was built by the Inca Empire? It is because the city was within the domain of the Inca Empire at the time, and its architectural style is consistent with other buildings of the empire, leading to the current belief that Machu Picchu was built by the Inca Empire in the 15th centur

Antarctic Journey 5: Impressions of Peru, Moray Terraces
Sacred Valley was the granary of the Inca Empire, where there are various styles of Inca terraces. The town of Moray is located at an altitude of 3600 meters, producing tuber crops such as potatoes and a variety of hybrid crops. The circular terraces that come into view are a wonderful sight. Among the vast hills, there are many sunken terraces that resemble circular stepped theaters, with depths ranging from 100 to 160 meters. The circular terraces with more than ten layers of terraces connected in circles and evenly arranged look like the painting masterpiece of aliens. Moray is one of the many mysterious towns in Peru. For hundreds of years, it has been hidden in the Sacred Valley of the Plateau and unknown until 1932. It was discovered in an aerial survey sponsored by the National Geographic Society. Photographer Shippe Johnson took the first aerial photograph of the spectacular and shocking terrace system here, which was discovered 21 years later than Machu Picchu. This is the 'agricultural experimental base' of the ancient Incas. They carried out species hybridization and improvement experiments on foreign species (such as coca) here, and cultivated crops that can adapt to different climates, such as potatoes, quinoa and corn, etc. They also cultivated disaster-resistant varieties that can achieve good harvests even in disaster climates. The trick is to cleverly use the unique pebbles in the bed of the Urubamba River with different specific heat capacities, lay different thicknesses at the bottom of the terraces, and design and build terraces that adapt to different climates according to the climate differences at different heights every 300 meters. According to Peruvian authorities, these circular terraces have 20 different microclimates and ecological environments; and due to the natural sinkholes formed by crustal movements and the construction of terraces into a circular shape, they have good underground drainage functions. The ancient Incas used the difference in specific heat capacity of special stones to regulate the temperature of different terraces, and maintained different humidity by controlling the irrigation system, thereby creating different microclimates for terraces at different heights.

Nestled amidst the Andes, Machu Picchu stands as a testament to ancient Incan ingenuity, a mystical city perched on the edge of the world.
Review:
Stepping through the Sun Gate at sunrise, the ethereal beauty of Machu Picchu unfolds. Mist swirls around the ancient ruins, adding an air of mystery. The first rays of light paint the stone structures in hues of gold, revealing a silent city that whispers tales of an ancient civilization.
Take the time to wander through the agricultural terraces, where the Incas mastered the art of farming on steep slopes. Feel the energy of Intihuatana, the ritual stone, as you touch the ancient symbol of spiritual connection. 🌄
For a heart-pounding adventure, trek up Huayna Picchu. The steep ascent rewards you with a bird's-eye view of Machu Picchu, a perspective reserved for the intrepid. Be prepared for narrow paths and vertiginous drops.
To truly connect with the spirit of the Incas, hire a knowledgeable guide. Their insights into the history, architecture, and spiritual significance enrich the experience. Learn about the rituals and ceremonies that once echoed through these stone corridors.
Avoid the midday crowds by exploring the site early or late in the day. The serene moments when the majority of visitors have departed allow you to absorb the ancient aura undisturbed.

Glorious ruins, Machu Picchu
Chilean poet Pablo Neruda praised in his most famous long poem 'The Summit of Machu Picchu':
I see the ancient stone buildings nestled between the lush Andes peaks. The torrent rushes down from the castle that has been eroded by wind and rain for hundreds of years. ... On this rugged highland, in these glorious ruins, I found the principles and beliefs necessary to continue writing poetry.
The ancestors of the Incas lived in the highlands of Peru, later migrated to Cusco, established the Kingdom of Cusco, and developed into the Inca Empire in 1438. The Inca Empire, between 1438 and 1533, used various methods such as military conquest and peaceful assimilation, so that the territory of the Inca Empire almost covered the entire western South America (spanning today's Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina), it was a vast indigenous empire in America. In 1526, the Spanish conqueror Francisco Pizarro led a 168-man army from Panama to the south and discovered the Inca Empire. The Inca Empire was destroyed in 1533 and became a colony of the Spanish Empire.
The Incas did not have their own writing, many historical facts are difficult to verify, but from this Machu Picchu built between the towering mountains, it is enough to glimpse the advanced technology, astronomy, crafts, etc. at that time. In 1983, it was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and the registered name is the Ancient Temple of Machu Picchu.

Peru ~ Green paradise under the Andes Mountains
Peru is a country with multiple races, languages, and cultures. It is located in the northwest of South America and has become one of the most valuable tourist destinations in the world. The diversity of its residents and natural conditions provides various methods of land use and forms a remarkable fusion of culture and landscape, which is the birthplace of Inca culture. Its diverse natural environment, Amazon rainforest, Andean plateau Inca ruins, and the world's highest Lake Titicaca make Peru a year-round tourist destination with abundant choices for travelers.
Machu Picchu
The ruins of the ancient city of the southern Inca Empire in Peru are the most famous tourist destination in Peru and a UNESCO-approved human cultural heritage site. "Machu Picchu" means "old mountain top" in the Inca language. It is located on a plateau 112 kilometers northwest of the capital of the ancient Inca Empire, Cusco, surrounded by mountains and steep cliffs on both sides of the ancient city, with the turbulent Urubamba River below. The area is 13 square kilometers and the altitude is 2,280 meters. It is estimated to have been built four to five hundred years ago. After the Spanish invasion of the American continent, the ancient city was abandoned and remained undiscovered due to its high mountains, steep roads, and dense jungle.
In 1911, it was discovered by Hiram Bingham, a professor of South American history at Yale University. The ancient city streets are narrow, but arranged neatly and orderly. The palaces, temples, and platforms are magnificent and spectacular, and there are also workshops, fortresses, etc. They are mostly built with huge stones, and the size of the stones is tightly fitted, not even a blade can be inserted.
Go. On the towering pyramid stands the Temple of the Sun, managed by virgins. The walls of some noble residences have rectangular or triangular window sills leaning against the mountains, high, wide, and neat; there are also stone water storage tanks, which lead mountain springs into them for drinking. The sundial excavated here shows the high cultural level of the ancient Inca Empire. Archaeologists have also excavated thousands of Inca remains and skulls here, with each male remains buried with 10 female remains in a radial pattern. Many symbols and marks unknown to humans are carved on the ruins.~

Machu Picchu, Peru
If you are planning to see only one attraction in South America, this is the place to come. The ancient Inca city of Machu Picchu is arguably the most impressive ruined city in the world.
Much of the attraction comes from its location, high in the jungle-clad mountains of Peru. Set on a high plateau with soaring green mountains, the setting is surreal. The sheer tenacity of the original builders to create this amazing place in what would have been impenetrable jungle, is, in itself, impressive.
Visitor numbers are now limited to a maximum per day, so the experience has been greatly enhanced.

Machu Picchu, Peru, the "mirror of the sky" in the clouds
"The Lost City" of the Inca Empire, located on the steep and narrow ridge between the oldest peak of the Andes and the youth peaks 2400 meters above sea level. In Incan, Machu Picchu represents the "old mountain."
Machu Picchu was 120 kilometers from the then capital of Cuzco. Centuries ago, connecting Machu Picchu and Cusco, there was only a narrow Inca Trail between the mountains. Nowadays, when tourists arrive here by train, they will feel a strong shock Machu Picchu in front of them seems to be able to slide down the narrow ridge from the abyss at any time, and it is on this steep, uninhabited ridge. The Incas built their own city.
Machu Picchu has more than 170 buildings, 6 terraces, thousands of steps, several temples and 16 fountains. It was a miracle. It was declared a Peruvian historical reserve in 1981, 1983 Listed as a World Heritage by UNESCO.
[Several ways to enter Machu Picchu]
1 on foot, walking from Cusco into Machu Picchu, about 5 days and 6 nights, hiking around Machu Picchu , riding, starting from the Cusco newspaper group;
2 with the group, from Cusco to the group directly to Machu Picchu, all the way with a tour guide;
3 carpool + hiking + Mountaineering, from Cusco carpool to Machu Picchu train entrance (6 hours away) to the small train entrance, walk 3 hours to the hot water town, 45 minutes from the hot water town to Machu Picchu;
/ Hh/ 4 small train, riding a small train is the choice of most travelers.

Traveling in Peru - the innocence behind the bright and colorful colors, the biggest feeling of traveling in Peru is mainly visual and spiritual. Visually, in any corner, you can see colorful colors in the eye. In the mind, whenever you see the clean smile on the faces of local residents, your heart will become like you are infected. Have to be as carefree as they are.
I hope this beautiful land (Taoyuan) will never be polluted, and I hope that the children here will always grow happy.

Peru Travel The Machu Picchu in the clouds is more beautiful than the dry season
After 4 trains 3 plane 2 bus, finally came to Machu Picchu. I don't know how the original Incas built such a stone city on such a steep mountaintop. The gap between the stone and the stone is so perfect that it is like a deliberate one. Machu Picchu is not only a city built on the top of the Inca Empire, but also a water conservancy project from the top to the foot of the mountain.
Compared to the Machu Picchu on a sunny day, the misty Machu Picchu in the rainy season adds a bit of scent to the mountains.
tips:
1. It is necessary to go up the mountain early in the rainy season. It is best to look at the cloudy fog at 6 o'clock in the morning and then spread out. When you are lucky, you can see the rainbow.
2. Transportation: 1 hour and a half from Lima plane or 10 hours to bus in Cusco, then charter 150 Peruvian or 7-knife bus to Ouyantai, then take the train to and from 80 knives or more. Hot spring town (there are several trains to choose from, there will be discounts during the rainy season). Hot Spring Town buys a 20-minute bus ticket to and from the mountain for 24 knives. Finally, single Machu Picchu tickets 152 local currency into it.
3. Machu Picchu is an hour ticket, which is the 8 o'clock ticket you bought. You can't go up the mountain at 6 o'clock, so I suggest you try to buy the tickets early.
4. In the rainy season, you can buy all the tickets one day in advance. In the dry season, you are advised to buy tickets in advance.
Vickyqin.
Even if I look at the perfect photos of many standard angles, I still feel that Machu Picchu is spectacular. The small train sitting in the panoramic sunroof is all the way up, crossing the Urubamba River, and the other peaks in the Andes are faintly visible in the distance. f
