Michaela (@uncoveringcities) Shanghai’s M50 Creative Park - Art&Food
Located next to Suzhou creek, the small river that crosses Shanghai horizontally, the M50 Creative Park is a unique art and design hub where to enjoy a day of culture and food.
Plenty of Art Galleries such as Island6 or ShanghArt will fulfill your thirst for an artsy escape whereas the many cafes and restaurants spread in quiet patios are a great choice for bites and sips.
Check out the wall paintings and street sculptures lining up the little corridors by the river, these are a bit hidden as you need to get there through a small walkable pathway in one corner of the area, not easy to find but well worth the effort

Island 6 Art Gallery Shanghai
Island 6 Art Gallery is one of those places that you should definitely visit when in Shanghai.
Located at the heart of M50 Creative Park a hub for design and art venues, Island 6 pushes forward the boundaries of creativity while staying true to the traditional landscapes of Shanghai.
In the artworks you see everyday sceneries of life in Shanghai: scooters, skyscrapers, electric cables, etcetera, juxtaposed to a graphic or video element that highlights inside the painting.
Definitely one place to check out to witness the creative spirit of Shanghai artists.

A hanging forest in Shanghai?
Next to Shanghai`s art district, M50, you will find a huge complex covered with trees, called “1000 Trees” designed by the British designer Thomas Heatherwick`s studio. 🌇🌿
This beautiful mall complex, which harmonizes all its neighboring landscape, is filled with columns abound with trees and plants🌳🌿, making it look as if green shoots have sprouted up through the building to bloom on the skyline. 🏢
Each floor of the building has a terraces with panoramic views 🤪 and columns bringing nature close to each level.
From a distance the 1000 Trees emerge like a pair of first-capped mountains. ⛰️🌿😍
It is a nice place to visit when you are in the area. You can have a beautiful walk there since it is located on the bend in Suzhou Creek, bounded by the river 🌅 to the north, the M50 art district 🧑🎨 to the south and a residential area to the east. This site contains lots of shops, cafes, restaurants, public spaces and a walkway along the river with cherry trees 🌸🍒 and art pieces.
Not only it is a great place to have a promenade and hang around, but to take amazing pictures!! 👌🤪

🚶🏻♀️ Around 10 minutes walking distance from exit 1.
🖼 It’s a small art corner full of beauty, uniqueness and positive energy.
💰 Most of the museums don’t require a ticket and there is no entrance fee.
🌭 There are some restaurants and bars around. you can also find delicious western food and drinks.
📌 Half a day is fully enough for this trip. I traveled alone and spent about 4-5 hours including lunch and taking photos.

Shanghai's street art scene at M50
If you love modern art, and street art in particular, then you can visit M50 Creative Park in Shanghai. It's located at 50 Moganshan Road (hence the name) just across the river from Shanghai Railway Station.
The area is free to enter, and you can enjoy plenty of creative murals all around the complex on the walls, roofs and doors. It's a perfect place for that Instagram moment.
There is more to do than just admiring the graffiti. You can visit one of the many shops here. There are art galleries, coffee shops and shops to buy handmade jewelry and other crafts. You can even join a workshop and let your creative juices flow.
Wrapped in 1000 trees 🌳
Getting There - You can either take the taxi or the metro and get off at Zhongtan Road 🚕
Attractions - It’s a mall and inside the mall are various art galleries and exhibitions. 🛍
Food & Restaurants - There’s a massive food court and various restaurants on the terrace. 🍱
Shopping - An array of clothing stores for the whole family. 🛒
I’ve been watching as they have build this mall over the past two years, at first it looks like a gigantic island filled with trees and as you make your way into the doors your at a world class mall. 🌳
I’m not a big fan of malls but this mall is so beautiful, it has various art galleries and exhibitions as you go about your day. 🖼
While a few places are still under-construction I can’t wait to see everything open and complete. 🚪
Make sure you find a terrace to have a view of the river and people watch if that’s your thing. 🌉

But.. Is it art?
Far from being an expert, I still love looking at the intricacies of accomplished or passionate artists. Shanghai Art District named M50 is exactly the place to do that. Although lacking some of those famous European buildings down by the French Concession, M50 has a uniquely European, Bohemian vibe, with it's small independent coffee shops, hipster art stores and graffiti littered all over the walls, from big to small.
You could spend several hours browsing art works and speaking to there creators. It's truly a unique space in Shanghai, and not one to miss out on. Easily accessible by bike or taxi, it's a little out from the center, but not too far to be unreachable.

Creative Space in an Urban Jungle
50 Moganshan lu - M50 Creative Park is one my favorite spots in Shanghai to appreciate local artists. A lofty, grungy spot with awesome art. A must for any art lover. Permanent artist studios and temporary exhibitions keep the space fresh and evolving. Graffiti art, sculpture and minimalist architecture abounds. Can be busy over the national holidays, so I recommend a lazy Sunday to visit the area. Cafe’s and coffee trucks available. clean bathroom and seating available. Many restaurants and shopping areas located nearby. No trip to Shanghai is complete without visiting M50. Please be mindful with noise!!! #art #shanghai #m50
1000 Tree Building
If you are into architecture and sustainability definitely check out this building in Shanghai. It was designed to be carbon positive with new materials being used and a tree planted on every balcony. This Building looks like a forest on a mountain.
🌳It is located right next to brilliant city along Suzhou creek and has been recently finished. On the opposite side of the building they transferred the graffiti that used to be sprayed on walls to the rear of the building. It looks amazing, a collection of art on a building.
🌙 If you would truly want to see something great make sure to visit this place at night. Its lit up for head to toe and is stunning. I would dedicate around 2 hours in this area as there is an art gallery close by called m50 with some great restaurants close by.
All in all, I’m glad they finished the building and that it is being used. Hopefully more building draw some inspiration from this one 😀

N50 is close to West Suzhou Road in Jing'an District. It reminds me of a mini 798 Art Zone, where I used to go in Beijing. I liked it there. It's a nice place for a leisurely stroll.
Hall of Art
Ever wondered how the places around us are all built so magnificent and beautiful ? I found that answer when I visited M50 creative park situated at number 50 Moganshan road (and so the name 😉). Art 🎭 is more of a miniature version of how someone is so skillful in expressing their thoughts, that only can be seen with special eyes 👀. Although I am neither an artist nor a judge 😜, there is something special about this place. M50 is full of creative things made by brilliant minds from around the world 🌎. If you are someone who enjoys art🎨 then this the place for you.

Shanghai Private Network Red Spot Recommended [M50 Creative Park]
M50 Located at No. 50 Moganshan Road on the south bank of Suzhou River, it has more than 50 industrial buildings from various historical periods from the 1930s to the 1990s. The riverside retains the most complete legacy of national industrial buildings.
M50 was originally a family business of Zhou's family, one of the representatives of modern Huizhou merchants, Xinhe Yarn Factory. After liberation, it was renamed Shanghai No. 12 Wool Textile Factory and Shanghai Chunming Roving Factory. Later, the artist studio, cultural art institution and design enterprise with visual art and creative design as the main body were gradually introduced, and gradually became one of the landmark creative parks in Shanghai.
In recent years, M50 Art Industry Park has introduced more than 140 artists' studios, galleries, higher art education and various cultural and creative institutions in 20 countries and regions.
Urban Cultural Park | Shanghai M50
Every city has its own trendy cultural landmarks, Beijing has 798, Shanghai has M50. Strolling through the M50 Cultural Park, you can enjoy a day's free art feast, and there are many tasteful cafes and unique shops. Spending a day here, you can eat, drink, play, and view exhibitions, which can be described as a comprehensive immersive entertainment experience.
The M50 park's buildings feature various interesting graffiti walls, and even the walls of the fire station inside are painted with cute firefighter dog graffiti. It is said that M50 also has a community canteen open to the public, and nearby there is the Tian'an Qianshu Mall to visit together. Art lovers who come to Shanghai should not miss this, as the galleries inside are free to visit, and the quality of the exhibits is also very good, making it well worth the trip.
M50 Creative Park: A fashionable cultural and creative landmark by the Suzhou River
M50 Creative Park, located at No. 50 Moganshan Road, Putuo District, Shanghai, was originally the Shanghai Chunming Textile Mill, which began its transformation into an art and creative park in 2000. Tracing back the history of M50, it was originally a modern family enterprise of Huizhou merchants—the Xinhe Yarn Factory, which was renamed to Shanghai No. 12 Wool Textile Factory and Shanghai Chunming Textile Mill after liberation. The entire park has more than 50 industrial buildings from various historical periods from the 1930s to the 1990s, making it the most complete preservation of national industrial architecture on the banks of the Suzhou River.
Since the new century, M50 has gradually introduced artists' studios, cultural and art institutions, and design companies focusing on visual arts and creative design through the construction of urban industrial parks and business adjustments, becoming one of the iconic creative parks in Shanghai. Subsequently, M50 Creative Park has organized and participated in a series of fashionable events such as the 2005 Shanghai International Fashion Culture Festival, Fashion Week, Fashion Night, Shanghai Suzhou River·2007 Cultural and Creative Industries Forum, CREATIVEM50 Annual Creative Talent Selection, M50 Gallery Joint Opening, ADICOLOR Celebrity Charity Party, L'Oréal Product Promotion, and more.
In 2004, M50 Creative Park was listed by TIME magazine's Asian edition as one of the recommended Shanghai cultural landmarks to visit. In 2006, it was awarded the highest popularity award among Shanghai's top ten fashionable landmarks.

Feng Junlan Photography Exhibition: Me and You Ich und Du
I visited the M Art Space in the M50 Creative Park to see the photography exhibition 'Me and You Ich und Du' by artist Feng Junlan. Feng Junlan's works often take the form of a single dramatic piece, conveying his unique artistic perspective. This exhibition breaks away from the fixed series presentation, dramatically narrating the artist's focus on the 'relationship' proposition, discussing the subject and different objects, that is, the relationship between 'me' and every 'you'.

🕋H Gallery
Entering the month of March, four artists welcome the greenery, eloquently speaking of the new vitality of winter's departure and spring's awakening.
👩🏻🦰Dexi
I had previously seen her full-bodied portraits at the Art Expo Gallery and liked them very much. This time, the same characters are dressed in verdant spring attire, and they are still attractive.
Deng Siqi
Once thought that spring would never come, but after realizing it, he easily released the spring mood.
🎵Li Xu
As winter leaves and spring arrives, the seasons change in a cycle, and so does life. The artist's brushstrokes repeat and transition in the space of colors, like the chords and rhythms in music, composing the symphony of the seasons.
☁️Yan Jiawei
Likes to paint people walking in the clouds because the artist believes that even though people are just passersby in this world, they have once danced under this sky.
Shanghai citywalk | This free creative park is really, really, really interesting
Shanghai M50 Creative Park is a diversified space that integrates art, culture, and creativity, with a unique historical and cultural background🌟

M50 Creative Park--A self-sprouting art community
M50 is located at No. 50 Moganshan Road, Putuo District, and is a creative industry cluster transformed from a textile factory. There is no deliberate planning of exhibition areas, dining areas, and office areas, etc. Studios, exhibition halls, galleries, cafes, bars... are scattered in the park at will, which is more in line with the casual temperament of artists.
Both banks of the Suzhou River and Huangpu River have many historical industrial zones. After the successful bid for the Shanghai Expo in 2010, they were renovated in accordance with the principle of repairing the old as the old to beautify the urban space. M50 and Tianzifang are also on this list. Around 2015, Tianzifang became well-known to every household, while M50 sprouted on its own and gained a reputation in the art circles at home and abroad. Five years later, the development of these two art communities is different. M50 enjoys a high reputation in the field of cultural creativity at home and abroad, and has become one of the top ten art districts in the world, and even made it to the American 'Time Magazine'. In the final analysis, Tianzifang sells art industrial products, and its essence is consumerism. The core of M50 is art, operated through commercial means.
Walking in the park, you can watch many exhibitions for free and come into contact with the latest art forms. I can't understand what many works want to express, perhaps for artists, creation itself is a kind of expression and spiritual pleasure, not caring about a thousand Hamlets.
M50 Creative Park
M50 Creative Park is located in Moganshan Road, Putuo District, Shanghai. The original identity of M50 Creative Park was Shanghai Chunming Coarse Spinning Factory, which began to transform into an art creative park in 2000. In July 2011, Shanghai Chunming Coarse Spinning Factory was renamed Shanghai M50 Cultural Creative Industry Development Co., Ltd., and the park covers an area of about 36 acres. Since 2008, the fashion business department of Shanghai Textile Group and the management of M50 Creative Park have put forward innovative concepts for the brand building of M50, that is, from subject to object, from entity to carrier, with the intention of using M50 Creative Park as a basis, making full use of the ability of the park resources to gather and the resources gathered, to put M50 on a higher level, and to build it as a brand with 'art, creativity, life' as the core value.

Shanghai has many amazing places, like located at No. 50 Moganshan Road The M50 Creative Park, the name is probably taken from the Mo Pinyin M and 50.
was originally the location of a textile factory, but today it is transformed into a M50 sign to call on art workers from all over the world, including the Swiss ShanghART Gallery, the French East Gallery Art, the British Consulate Cultural and Art Office, and the Artists Studio. Art gallery and so on.
can be said to be Shanghai's 798. The creative park has been transformed from an abandoned old factory building and a damaged old-fashioned Shanghai apartment. Now it has become an artistic landmark in Shanghai.
When you enter the door, you will see posters on the wall filled with various performance art exhibitions. Foreign to domestic, well-known or unknown, this industrial atmosphere attracts artists from all over the world.
Shanghai Xinjin Net Red Shop | Come to a Buddhist tea in the art space of the industrial style!
The Tingtai tea space opened in the M50 Creative Park was transformed from the old factory. It was a new look when you walked in. It is different from the pure Chinese-style Japanese style tea room in the impression. It is a thick and simple industrial style. The boss is also a person who knows tea and loves tea. It took two years to create a Pu'er tea space with both modern features and tradition.
The furniture and tea sets in the tea room are almost all famous. The fruit plate of Liansheng snacks is Herms, the dessert fork is Villeroy&Boch, and the teapot that I saw at the glance, it is worth 180,000. It is said that the boss got the Hong Kong auction, this one. There are also exquisite small cups of 20,000, feeling that they are drinking tea in RMB, this experience is absolutely luxurious!
The tea in the shop is the Pu'er ancient tea that the boss personally selected. It is based on Yunnan ancient tree pure material and ancient method. The five famous famous ancient trees Pu'er tea in Yunnan: Jingmai, Banzhang, Iceland, Xigui, Minttang.
Sitting on a tatami with floor heating, the tea master will help us make tea and explain the tea culture. In addition to the tea also contains some snacks, peeled pine nuts and pecans and a small cake and a cherries, I have to say that after the experience, I feel that the price of 268 yuan / person is really cost-effective.
After drinking tea, my body and mind are really a lot easier. I didnt know that I fell in love with tea in the afternoon. Im going to have another friend to come here again for a Buddhist tea. .
The M50 plot used to be the gathering place of China's largest national capitalist. The Chunming Industrial Park at No. 50 Moganshan Road was the first to be the British merchant's letter and cotton yarn factory of the Zhou family. The original Shanghai flour mill at 120 Moganshan Road was built by the Sun family's Fufeng Machine Flour Mill and the Rong Family. Fuxin Flour Mill developed. In 1936, the plant also built a 22,000-ton steam-filled silo with a high degree of automation, and later became the largest and the latest equipment flour mill in the Far East. Fuxin Flour Mill was founded by Rong Brothers in 1913. After 1914, the second, fourth and eighth flour mills were built in a row. The geese are in a long shape... As for the magnificent construction, the scale is grand, especially the factories. The crown."
With a fixed focus head of 85mm, it is very convenient to take close-ups. The indoor space art exhibition suggests taking a wide-angle lens.
