Soon grand and majestic again
Possibly an ode to Detroit's former glory and a microcosm of itself, the majestic and more than a century old Michigan Central Station stood as a beautiful building in Corktown.
The former train terminus was for a long time abandoned and a popular area for people looking to film and photography ruins/abandoned buildings. It was also the site of many popular blockbuster films and movies.
The building was recently bought by Ford and is in the process of being renovated and restored. As a result it no longer holds that eerie and mysterious feeling it once did when it was abandoned. Nonetheless, it's absolutely fascinating to see how such a grand and majestic building could be left to ruins and highlights the seriousness of the issues the city faced/is still facing. It also shows the city's resilience and its desire to constantly press ahead and refurbish itself. There is nothing much in the surrounding area but Corktown does warrant a visit as well.
Overall a very interesting building to photograph and visit from the outside; although hopefully one can visit the inside soon enough.
