2023-10-03 Today is to go to Namtso. Arrived at the foot of Namtso, there is a checkpoint where you need to buy tickets and car tickets, each person more than 200 yuan. Arrived at the visitor center, then take their car to the Zaxi Peninsula of Namtso. There is no ticket from Bange County to Namtso. The tickets are collected by the villagers of the county, or it can be said that they are collected by Damxung County. We did not enter the visitor center and walked along the provincial road. Passed Nima Village, Shengxiang Tianmen has been sealed and cannot be entered. Today's lake tour, finally find a place to camp, 9 o'clock Milky Way is above the head, it is difficult to shoot, took a few photos and then rest.

One of the "Three Holy Lakes" in Tibet. The Namtso during the day is blue and pure. The Namtso at night is mysterious and deep.
If you go to Namtso, why not camp for a night and gaze at the stars. I prefer Namtso in winter, it's so beautiful that it makes you doubt life, indescribable

Such grand and tranquil beauty only exists in the snowy mountain holy lake - Namtso
It's not its fault that it's so beautiful, this is Tibet's Namtso. Namtso is one of the 'three holy lakes' in Tibet. It is the first divine lake of the ancient Bon religion, and one of the famous Buddhist holy places. Wherever you look, there is pure blue, boundless vastness, sacred and flawless. Being here, you can let go of everything and just be yourself. If blue is a synonym for beauty, it must be describing here.
'In this land reserved by God, even time freezes...'
When you come to Namtso, you will experience what it feels like to have a sudden enlightenment! It is located in the central part of the Tibet Autonomous Region, the second largest lake in Tibet, and the third largest saltwater lake in China!
Located on the 'roof of the world', it presents the sacred and pure beauty to the world without reservation!
To the south of the lake, there are the year-round snow-capped Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains, and to the north and west, there are gentle highland hills and a vast lakeshore. The heavenly lake is like a giant mirror, embedded in the grasslands of northern Tibet!
Here, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, with changing clouds, unlike the turbulent sea, the rushing waterfall. Namtso, just lies there quietly, tranquility is her posture, the troubles of the world have nothing to do with her.....
Such grand yet tranquil beauty only exists in the snowy mountain holy lake - Namtso!
Namtso, is one of the 'three holy lakes' in Tibet, and also a must-visit spot for Tibet travel. It is also known as the 'lake closest to heaven'. The azure lake, blue sky and white clouds, scattered yaks, distant snow-capped mountains, this is Namtso, a holy place to purify the soul.
Ticket price: 120 yuan, taking a photo with the yaks in the scenic area is 50 yuan per photo (you can bargain, depending on your bargaining ability).
Precautions:
!The most important thing to pay attention to when traveling to Tibet is altitude sickness, especially in Namtso, where the altitude reaches over 5000, it is easy to have altitude sickness, it is recommended to bring medicine for altitude sickness.
!The wind here is particularly strong, it can make your head ache, thick clothes and hats are necessary, be prepared for wind protection. And because the light is strong, sunglasses are also necessary, otherwise you can't open your eyes, and you need to be prepared for sun protection to prevent sunburn.
!Choose a good time to travel, the weather greatly affects the beauty of Namtso, although the scenery is not bad on cloudy days, but Namtso on a sunny day is really beautiful! The best time to go to Namtso is from July to September.
!When taking pictures, be careful not to take pictures of the local Tibetans and cattle and sheep, because they may charge you. And when taking a photo with a yak, keep a safe distance first, because you might get kicked.
Namtso Lake via Damxung
Getting There - spend the night in Damxung/Dangxiong or Lhasa/Lasa 🏯
Attractions - Namtso Lake / Lake Nam / Tengri Nor 🏞
Note! Even in summer, the altititude of this Lake can make the entire area quite cold, so bring a jacket and a rain coat too - as it's quite susceptible to weather changes. 🏔☀️🌧
Also, check with your tour guide if the bus tickets are included to the Lake. 🏞
Lake Namtso is the largest Lake in Tibet (AR), it is a giant saltwater lake. You can see how pristine it is for miles from the lovely turquoise blue colour. 🔵
around the island are various locals trading their wares, and selling noodles that you can feed to the local birds. 🐦

I have returned from a brave journey to Tibet, and I'm here to help anyone I can
Do not trust online travel companions for Tibet! Here's some advice from my experience for those who are visiting Tibet for the first time.
‼️ Many online companions are actually travel scams! They trick you into booking a tour and then make excuses for not being able to go... I met my travel companions in a group, and since we met in person and played together, at least it was real.
You must bring 🧳
✅ Glucose and down jackets, so do not underestimate the weather in Tibet. Regardless of whether it's April, May, June, or July, have your down jacket ready.
✅ Personally, I think it's optional to bring ibuprofen. For minor altitude sickness headaches, you can take headache powder, but for severe cases, you can't rely on headache powder, you need to go to the hospital, so no ibuprofen.
You can bring: cold medicine, diarrhea treatment, gas relief, indigestion treatment, motion sickness pills.
✅ Bring a power bank, it's essential for going out every day, so it's best to bring two for alternating use. The same goes for hats, have two to switch between.
My expenses
‼️ I went during the off-season, and my expenses were around 7,000 yuan, including travel costs, photoshoots, accommodation, joining a tour group, food and drink, and souvenirs.
‼️ Souvenir suggestions
For personal consumption/gifting: yak jerky, milk flakes, butter tea, highland barley wine, sweet tea, Tibetan chicken, highland barley egg crisp, yak milk strips.
Local must-tries: yak yogurt, fresh milk, yak meat hotpot, Tibetan noodles, sweet tea, Nyingchi stone pot chicken, Tibetan pork, Tibetan chicken, milk residue buns, pickled vegetable noodle pieces, cold noodles.
Some points about attractions
1️⃣ Remember to book in advance for the Potala Palace! Otherwise, you can't get in!
2️⃣ Don't forget your ID card! Otherwise, you won't be able to go anywhere in Lhasa, and it would be as if you came to Lhasa for nothing... You'll have to get a temporary one, don't ask me how I know 😭
3️⃣ The post office in the sky is not far from the Potala Palace! Don't miss it, family. It's quite meaningful. You can visit it while going to the Potala Palace.
4️⃣ Namtso when it's frozen is also beautiful, Yamdrok Lake is beautiful, Mount Namcha Barwa is cool, and Mount Everest is cool, you must go! You must take lots and lots of photos! Take hundreds!
Points about joining a tour group
1️⃣ It's best to join a tour group for your first trip to Tibet! Tibet is a province, and if you want to go to Mount Everest, you must join a tour group, as self-driving is too far! Over six hundred kilometers could be terrible if you get altitude sickness.
2️⃣ Refuse shopping tours! Refuse low-price tours! Be careful not to be treated like a piglet.
3️⃣ Make sure you understand the itinerary when joining a tour group, the first thing to check in the contract is if there's anything wrong with the itinerary! The second thing is to check the accommodations and meals.
Conclusion
I was very afraid of altitude sickness for my first trip to Tibet, but once I was in Lhasa, I realized that altitude sickness wasn't as scary as I thought. Altitude sickness really varies from person to person, so everyone doesn't need to be too nervous about it.

2023 Tibet Self-Drive Tour—Day 21 Namtso
📆2023-09-17 Sunday 21st day of the Tibet self-drive tour
🚙Itinerary: Lhasa—Namtso—Damxung
The weather forecast shows that the weather at Namtso might deteriorate this afternoon, so we skipped the hotel breakfast and set off at 7:30 to hit the road.
9:40, passing by the viewing platform service area—Nyainqêntanglha Mountains.
📖Knowledge points:
Nyainqêntanglha Mountains and Tanggula Mountains, two different things‼️
①Different meanings of the names
🔸Tanggula Mountains: In Tibetan, it means 'mountains on the plateau'.
🔸Nyainqêntanglha Mountains: In Tibetan, it means 'the efficacious god of the grasslands'. In Tibetan mythology, Nyainqêntanglha Mountains and Namtso Lake are a pair of lovers in a life-and-death romance, and are very efficacious sacred mountains and lakes.
②Different geographical locations
🔸Tanggula Mountains: Located in the northeastern part of Tibet, bordering Qinghai Province.
🔸Nyainqêntanglha Mountain Range: It is the dividing line of the three major regions of Tibet, dividing Tibet into Northern, Southern, and Southeastern Tibet.
③Different altitudes
🔸Tanggula Mountains: Most peaks are around 5000-6000 meters.
🔸Nyainqêntanglha Mountains: Higher, with most peaks generally above 6000 meters.
④Different levels of fame
🔸Tanggula Mountains: More famous. One of the world's eight famous mountains and one of China's ten famous mountains. Its geographical location is more important, being the source of the famous Three Rivers (Yangtze River, Nu River, and Lancang River).
🔸Nyainqêntanglha Mountains: More inclined towards religious significance, recognized as a sacred mountain in Tibetan Buddhism.
📍Namtso
The second largest lake in Tibet, and the third largest saltwater lake in China.
In Tibetan, it means 'heavenly lake', and is one of the 'three sacred lakes' of Tibet.
Deep blue waters, azure sky.
White clouds floating, seagulls resting, yaks strolling.
The vast expanse of the lake and the long blue sky reflect each other, as if heaven and earth are embraced within the lake.
💰Ticket: 110
🚌Sightseeing bus: 100
🐮Yak: 20
The scenery is really beautiful, but the commercial atmosphere in the scenic area is too strong.
You are stopped 50 kilometers away from the scenic area and must buy a ticket, and it is completely impossible to view Namtso from afar.
There are many disputes at the entrance, and even people just passing by are not allowed in. The price of the sightseeing bus ticket is also a subject of complaint. The management aspect indeed makes people feel bad.
Fortunately, the magnificent lake waters make the trip worthwhile.
📍Damxung
Staying overnight in Damxung, at an altitude of 4200, to acclimatize to the altitude.

Nam Co | The Healing Blue Series, life is worth it!
At an altitude of about 5000 meters on the Tibetan Plateau
There is a magical place called 'Nam Co'
Here, you can see the sky perfectly blending with the lake surface
The dark blue lake water seems to dissolve all worries
The distant snow-capped mountains cast clear reflections on the lake, giving a sense of time travel
Standing by the lake, watching the seagulls glide freely
The cold lake water washes over your feet, as if baptizing from within
Close your eyes, listen to your heartbeat, as if returning to the original ocean
📍Location: Namtso Protection Area in Tibet (located in Damxung County)
🚘It takes about 2 and a half hours to drive from Lhasa, the first part is on the highway, and then you start to circle up the mountain when you reach Damxung County
Follow the navigation to the main entrance, but actually, it's still dozens of kilometers away from the lake, you need to drive around the mountain to the tourist center
If you enter the Tashi Peninsula scenic area, you buy a ticket as usual, if not, tell the staff you are going to Bangor County, where you can visit Nam Co for free (this route is recommended for self-driving friends, as you can drive around the lake)
🎫Ticket: 210/person + sightseeing car
🐘Holy Elephant Gate: Due to environmental protection issues, it is temporarily permanently closed...
🆓Free viewing and check-in point
Navigate to Bangor County, keep driving straight along the road, about 20-30 minutes away from the tourist center by car, you will see the free viewing platform (with many tire tracks, easy to find!)
👗Recommended attire
It is suggested to wear bright colors, especially red dresses which are very photogenic
The wind is strong by the lake, so you can match your outfit with a hat🧢 and a shawl🧣
✅tips
1⃣️You will pass a pass at an altitude of 5200 meters on the way up the mountain, where you can have a distant view of Nam Co, don't get too excited🙅♀️don't exercise vigorously🙅, this is where many people are prone to altitude sickness
2⃣️The mountain road is quite narrow, be careful when turning and meeting other vehicles‼️
3⃣️Prepare some slices of bread🍞, if you're lucky, you can feed the seagulls~
4⃣️Beware of mosquitoes‼️

Winter in Tibet | It's such a pity you haven't been to Namtso
Every year when winter comes,
many people in my social circle go to Hemu in Xinjiang,
but I prefer to travel in the opposite direction. Welcome to Namtso in winter Tibet, stepping into the pure white world at the end of the world❄️
This is my third time to Namtso, and also my first time here in winter.
Indeed, Tibet in winter is colder than usual, the oxygen content in the plateau is lower, and many people avoid this season.
🌊At the lakeside at an altitude of 4700 meters, feeling the level 7 strong wind blowing in my face, looking at the pure white ice and snow world in front of me, and the Nyenchen Tanglha mountain range on the opposite side, 'Body in hell, eyes in paradise' is the perfect description for Namtso in winter.
💡In order to attract more tourists in this season, all A-level scenic spots in Tibet have a free admission policy, including the Potala Palace, Namtso, etc. So actually, this is also a good time to travel to Tibet in reverse, after all, during the peak season, 800 yuan might not even buy a ticket to the Potala Palace.
Indeed,
those willing to endure what others cannot,
can see the sights others can only dream of🏔️
When I drove myself on the road here,
the real snow country city began to appear before my eyes.
📍Namtso is located in Damxung County
🚗It takes 3h to drive from Lhasa to Namtso (in snowy weather, allow for 3-4 hours of travel)
🎫Due to the free admission policy in winter, you only need to buy a round-trip sightseeing bus ticket for 85 yuan at the Namtso Tourist Distribution Center to visit Namtso (mainly to Tashi Peninsula)
💡The best time to visit is to arrive at noon, because the sightseeing bus to Tashi Peninsula takes 1h, the plateau weather is changeable, the weather is relatively stable at noon, the light is good and it's warmer
❄️The altitude of Namtso is 4700 meters, it is not recommended for friends who have just arrived in Lhasa to go there, it is suitable to be arranged in the later itinerary, and the wind in winter is really very strong, so it is necessary to be well-prepared for warmth, luckily I wore a very thick parka down jacket that day!
But being young means being fearless,
how cold can it be, we are still passionate,
go and embrace all the beautiful scenery,
Tibet really has the power to heal everything,
friends, have a pleasant journey!!!
Tibet | Will you regret not visiting the Holy Elephant Gate on your trip to Namtso?
I won't, I haven't.
For me, the most indispensable experience in traveling is comfort: including what the body endures and what the eyes see.
Before setting off, I compared the difficulty of departing from Lhasa to visit the Holy Elephant Gate and just going to the Tashi Peninsula:
💠 Holy Elephant Gate:
Altitude 4700 meters;
An 8-hour drive, even if you set off early in the morning, you won't arrive until evening;
If you stay overnight on the way, you can only choose between simple lakeside guesthouses or tents;
The road conditions are poor, with the last 50 kilometers being washboard roads;
Tickets must be booked three days in advance;
You can check in at the popular Elephant Stone photo spot (you need to climb up yourself), and gaze at the distant Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains;
💠 Tashi Peninsula:
Altitude 4700 meters;
A 3-hour drive, allowing for a round trip to Lhasa within the same day;
You can stay in the best hotel in Damxung County and enter the scenic area early the next morning to avoid the peak of the crowds;
The road conditions are good;
Tickets can be bought upon arrival;
You can't see the popular Elephant Stone, but you can get a close view of the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains;
In Tibet, comfort is relative. After considering my physical condition, tolerance for hardship, and travel desires, I chose to give up on the Holy Elephant Gate.
Therefore, when I didn't spend too much time and energy on exhausting travel; when I could rest in the best hotel in Damxung County instead of sleeping in a lakeside tent dormitory; when I was lucky enough to catch good weather, and even if it was cloudy, I had ample time to wait for it to clear up; when I saw the Namtso Lake waters that looked like gems from afar and like jade up close, as well as the sacred Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains, I felt very fulfilled and had no regrets.
Just came back from Tibet! I'll persuade anyone I can, don't get scammed
Just came back from Tibet, let me tell the truth...||Tibet is really, really, really beautiful! But the most important thing about the journey is to plan well❗❗
Friends who are going to Tibet soon can refer to the following👇🏻
.
1. You must plan ahead before going to Tibet, otherwise you will spend the whole trip looking for guides, wasting time.
2. You can budget a little lower, but you can't be really poor, after all, it's a place where even breathing costs money.
3. If you have altitude sickness upon arrival, go directly to the clinic or hospital for oxygen and medication, remember not to think that a good night's sleep will cure it, the earlier you go, the better! The rest of the journey will be more enjoyable~
4. If you have enough time, you can choose to take a sleeper train to Tibet, never choose a hard seat! It's really uncomfortable! Rest well to avoid altitude sickness!
5. After arriving in Lhasa, go back to the hotel and rest, don't over-exercise or walk, don't wash your hair or take a bath. Don't drink alcohol! Drinking alcohol can easily cause altitude sickness!
6. Sweet tea is sweet, butter tea is salty, some friends may not be used to butter tea, taste carefully
7. Don't rush your itinerary! You can stay in Lhasa for a day or two to acclimate before going around.
8. Sunscreen! Sunscreen! Be sure to pay attention to sunscreen! The UV rays are too strong!
9. There are Tibetan mastiffs, lambs and yaks for photo ops by the Yanghu Lake, all of which are charged, (remember to negotiate the price with the herders in advance)
10. No matter what season you go to Mount Everest, you must prepare warm clothes, down jackets, storm jackets are all okay, it's really cold up there (if you want to see the stars, you can stay in the big bed at the Everest base camp, if you are afraid of altitude sickness, you can stay in the guesthouse below)
11. Tibet's famous attractions are basically concentrated in Lhasa, Nyingchi and Shigatse, these places are far apart, if you don't drive, it's recommended to charter a car or join a tour group, it will be much more convenient
12. Be sure to book the group tour in advance, find a reliable travel agency (sign a formal tourism contract, Tibetan license plate AL tourist car), if you want to have a good time, it's recommended to join a pure play small group, although the price is a bit higher.
·
🚗About the itinerary
I played in Lhasa for 2 days by myself, went to check in at the attractions close to Lhasa city, in the middle I joined a local pure play group for a 5-day small loop of Everest+Yanghu Lake+Namco, which is quite recommended
·
🙋🏻♀️The group is a standard cost-effective group, not bad, not particularly good, after all, playing for 5 days in this peak season only cost more than 1000 yuan, and it's the kind that includes car, accommodation, meals and tickets❗The cost performance is really high❗If you want to join a quality group, it might be more expensive, ours is mainly for cost-effectiveness and beautiful scenery haha

Nam Co|Never go there, because once you do, you won't want to come back
|Never go there, because once you do, you won't want to come back. Nam Co, located in the central part of the Tibet Autonomous Region, is one of the three sacred lakes of Tibet (Mapam Yumco, Yamdrok Lake, and Nam Co). It is the second largest lake in Tibet, with a surface elevation of 4,718 meters, situated between Dangxiong County and Baingoin County on the southeastern border of Nagqu City, 240 kilometers away from Lhasa. 'Nam Co' is Tibetan, and its Mongolian name is 'Tenggeri Hai', both meaning 'Heavenly Lake'. Nam Co is the first sacred lake of the ancient Bon religion of Zhangzhung, and one of the famous Buddhist holy places.
To the south of Nam Co lies the year-round snow-covered Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains, while to the north and west are the highland hills and vast lakeshores. The southeastern part is the main peak of the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains, which soars into the clouds with perennial snow. The gentle rolling highland hills nestle on the north side, and the vast grasslands surround the lake. The Heavenly Lake, like a huge precious mirror, is inlaid on the grasslands of northern Tibet.
Departing from Lhasa, driving across the northern Tibetan grasslands, along the Qinghai-Tibet Highway towards Nam Co, one can gaze at the main peak of Nyenchen Tanglha from a distance, with an elevation of 7,162 meters, passing through the Nagqu La mountain pass (photos 1, 2, 3), and arriving at the Tashi Peninsula of Nam Co three hours later (photos 4-11 are of the lakeside of the Tashi Peninsula). Against the vast and distant backdrop of blue sky and white clouds, facing the rippling and sparkling beauty of the sacred lake, with the majestic Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains in the background.
The Tashi Peninsula is located at the southeastern end of Nam Co Lake, extending northward into the lake, and is a peninsula of about 10 square kilometers made of limestone. In the middle is a small hill several tens of meters high, and at the northernmost end, numerous stone pillars and strange stone peaks stand in disarray, with natural stone bridges connecting them. Due to the long-term erosion by the waters of the Heavenly Lake, many quiet caves are scattered on the island, filled with stalactites, forming a unique karst landscape.
On the peninsula, there is Tashi Temple (Tashi, meaning auspicious in Tibetan), which is still shrouded in incense smoke, with evening drums and morning bells.
Scenic beauty of Nam Co:
1. Tashi Peninsula - the largest peninsula of Nam Co
2. Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains - one of the three great sacred mountains of Tibet
3. Nagqu La Mountain - overlooking the panoramic view of Nam Co
Travel precautions⚠️:
1. Remember to take medicine to prevent altitude sickness;
2. Walk slowly, climb slowly, and maintain a pleasant mood;
3. Bring some simple meals;
1. Transportation: We chose to rent a car, (if altitude sickness is not severe, it is recommended to rent a car, because you can stop and take beautiful photos at any time). After arriving at the scenic area, you need to buy a ticket, the price is 110 plus a sightseeing bus for 100, which provides oxygen. But just getting off the car to the scenic area will be very uncomfortable, with an altitude of 5000+. However, you will feel better after resting for a while.
2. Things to bring: Thick clothes, you must wear more. The wind is particularly strong. Also bring a hat. Otherwise, your head will freeze in pain.
If you are driving, it is recommended to bring some fruit, as the higher the altitude, the more severe the tinnitus will become. Eating something will make you feel much better. If the tinnitus is really uncomfortable, you can pinch your nose and exhale forcefully. It can relieve a lot. (This was taught by a skydiving instructor before)
3. You can prepare a small oxygen can. When you lack oxygen, you have no strength at all.
4. Bring a moderate amount of water and cola (it is said that cola is useful for altitude sickness). My boyfriend survived the drive by drinking cola.
5. Taking photos with the yaks by the lake, 50 per time. It is said that now there is unified management, with a unified price. But the brother said that he could let my boyfriend help us take a group photo. Take until satisfied. Be sure to find the yak in photo one, it looks the best! 🥹
6. Be sure to bring sunglasses, the ultraviolet rays here are too strong, you can't open your eyes without sunglasses.
7. If you are afraid of severe altitude sickness, you can bring some medicine for it. The pharmacies here all sell it.
8. If you want to feed the seagulls, there is a lady selling instant noodles nearby, two bags for 10 yuan. You can experience what it's like to feed seagulls immersively. The seagulls here are very beautiful, and they are not afraid of people, any shot is a blockbuster.
After a 4-day journey on the Yunnan-Tibet Highway—from Lhasa to Lijiang
DAY 1:
Today, I set out from Lhasa, embarking on the Yunnan-Tibet Highway.
I passed by Namtso and went to see this beautiful sacred lake. 10 years ago, I had seen it from a different perspective. Yet, no matter the angle, it remains stunning!
I arrived in Nagqu after 9 PM, had a bowl of beef noodles (I've lost count of how many I've had).
Then continued on, taking National Highway 317, through rain mixed with snow, until reaching Suoxian past 3 AM, and that's where I stayed for the night.
DAY 2:
Today's journey from Baqing to Qingding was filled with endless beautiful scenery. I bought a ticket to enter the Bujia Snow Mountain Glacier, but I felt it was unnecessary, as you can see Bujia Snow Mountain along the way.
The views on National Highway 317 are much more beautiful than those on 318. Indeed, the most beautiful scenery is in Tibet!
DAY 3:
Today's visit to the Zhuzi Temple was truly a surprise, despite the bumpy dirt road winding up the mountain. The moment I saw Zhuzi Temple, my eyes were filled with wonder—how could there be such a magnificent yet delicate temple!
I also did my first kora, following the pilgrims around the mountain, a sacred and joyful experience.
Arriving in Chamdo, I tried Tibetan beer with dinner. It didn't taste special, just wanted to give it a try.
After dinner, I walked to the Tea Horse Square. Chamdo is really a thriving city. Here, at my last stop in Tibet, I bought some yak milk strips to take back.
DAY 3:
This morning's breakfast in Chamdo was beef noodles, the last bowl I would have in Tibet.
We left Chamdo in the morning, didn't visit any attractions on the way, and it was already night by the time we reached Meili Snow Mountain. Marko's energy is extraordinary!
Cola was especially well-behaved today, taking the initiative to sit in the back seat with us.
Upon reaching Yunnan, we had a rib hotpot, but I still don't think the ribs taste good at all!
DAY 4:
I never expected to see Meili Snow Mountain again, this trip really revisited many places. There was also Feilai Temple, Jinsha Bay Great Bend, and the Tower of Towers, among others.
Maybe because we've spent so much time together, Cola has been sticking to me and Xiaohuihui these past two days.
Finally arrived in Lijiang, everything has changed. Yunnan is indeed much richer than Tibet.
Today is Sister Juan's birthday, I ordered a bouquet of flowers for her. We all gathered together for stone pot chicken and barbecue, it was really joyful, even the birthday cake was delicious. I also tried Songga beer, tonight I completely relaxed!

lf-driving Tour Treasure Guide in Tibet
1⃣️Recommended self-driving travel routes near Tibet: Lhasa-Yamdrok Lake, Lhasa-Namtso, two routes close to the city area.
2⃣️Among them, the route from Lhasa to Yamdrok Lake has a shorter driving time, taking about 2 and a half hours to reach the Yamdrok Lake scenic area. The first half of the journey is easy to drive, but approaching the lake is a mountainous climbing route with narrow roads and protection, drive slowly as there are many turns and uphill roads. Once you reach the Yamdrok Lake scenic area, you can go downhill to the lakeside. There are a few homestays by the lake where you can book online in advance.
3⃣️The self-driving route from Lhasa to Namtso is relatively longer, taking about 4 hours to reach the lakeside scenic area. However, this entire route is a gentle slope and nearly flat, which is easier to drive. The whole way is open highland prairie scenery. If you go late, you can stay in Bangor County, which is over 100 kilometers north of the lake.
4⃣️Both routes require more than four days, and it is best to choose self-driving tours between August and October.
5⃣️You will definitely encounter high altitude hypoxia along the way. Those small bottles of oxygen have little effect, it is best to rent a large green oxygen cylinder, which is very useful for altitude sickness. Be sure to have enough water and food in the car.
6⃣️It is best to have companions for self-driving, a four-seat SUV is cheap in the off-season with prices ranging from 300-600 per day, and there are car rental points in the Lhasa city are

📸In winter in Tibet, the place you must not miss is Namtso. If you don't go to Namtso in winter, you will miss the best Namtso.
❄️When Namtso is frozen for thousands of miles due to the cold, you will be completely amazed. It turns out that this holy lake only shows its most sacred side in the winter when there are no tourists.

At the lakeside of more than 4,000 meters above sea level, it already makes people's hearts beat faster. The prayer flags behind and the Mani pile in front add a sacred atmosphere to this magnificent space between heaven and earth.

Dreamy Namtso
Namtso, a mysterious place known as the 'Heavenly Lake'. Every encounter with Namtso is like meeting a beautiful dream.
On the way to Namtso by car, my heartbeat accelerates with the increase of altitude. The scenery outside the window is constantly changing, from continuous snow mountains to vast grasslands, and then to that sapphire-like lake, everything is so dreamy and unreal.
When the car stops by the lake, I can't wait to run to the lakeside, feeling the moist lake wind gently brushing my cheeks. The lake is clear and bottomless, as if it can wash away all the dust and troubles. I close my eyes and let my soul immerse in this purity and tranquility.
Looking around, the distant Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains and Namtso lean on each other, like a pair of eternal lovers. The sunlight sprinkles on the lake, sparkling, as if countless little elves are dancing. All these beautiful scenes, like a beautiful painting, make people linger.
I sit by the lake, letting my soul get completely relaxed and baptized. This beauty, like a beautiful filter, makes my mood more calm, gentle, and open.
When leaving Namtso, the sunset is sprinkled on the lake, and the whole world seems to be dyed with a golden glow. I know that this encounter with Namtso will become the most beautiful memory of my trip.
May everyone who comes to Namtso find inner peace and strength, and let life be as pure and beautiful as this holy lake.
Independent Travel - Holy Lake Namtso
There are always some places in this world that can make you yearn for them even if you have never set foot in them. The highest lake in the world - Holy Lake Namtso, is such a place. When I stand by the lake, what I feel is not only the magnificence of nature, but also a yearning for purity, tranquility, and freedom.
🚗Departing from Lhasa, a 3-hour drive can reach this fairyland. Along the way, the scenery outside the window gradually changes with the increase in altitude, from bustling cities to continuous snow-capped mountains, to vast grasslands, and finally the blue lake that comes into view.
The lake is clear and bottomless, as if it can wash away all the dust. The distant Nyenchen Tanglha Mountain is even more magnificent under the sunlight, forming a beautiful contrast with Namtso. The sunlight sprinkled on the lake, sparkling, as if countless little elves were dancing.
Here, time seems to stand still. I sat quietly by the lake, allowing my soul to relax and be baptized. I felt the magic and magnificence of nature, and also experienced the beauty of harmonious coexistence between man and nature.
🙏Namtso is the holy lake in the hearts of Tibetans and their spiritual sustenance. They believe that here, they can communicate with the gods and find inner peace and strength.
📸Finally, don't forget to share your travel photos and insights! Let us feel the beauty of travel together.
If it weren't for saying it's Tibet, I would have thought it was the South Pole!!!
Hahaha, actually it's at Namtso Lake
The ice hasn't melted yet, although it's off-season and no tickets are required, but you need to pay 85 per person for the environmental protection vehicle fee (actually it's the scenic area bus).
After buying tickets at the entrance of the scenic area, you still have to drive half an hour to the sightseeing bus distribution center, so basically you can only drive or charter a car to go~
This is not Iceland, nor Xinjiang, this is Namtso in Tibet
Namtso, located in the central part of the Tibet Autonomous Region, is the second largest lake in Tibet and the third largest saltwater lake in China.
-
"Namtso" is Tibetan, and the Mongolian name is "Tengger Sea", both meaning "heavenly lake". Namtso is one of the "three major sacred lakes" in Tibet. Namtso is the first sacred lake of the ancient Bon religion in Tibet, and one of the famous Buddhist holy places.

⏰Best travel time
July to September is the best season for Namtso. However, due to the heavy rain during this season, the road conditions are very poor.
-
Accommodation🛏️
Many travelers will spend a night on the lake together, where they can see the Namtso in the early morning and dusk. There are earth houses for accommodation, which can accommodate up to nine people; you can also stay at the local garrison station and the earth enclosure where Tibetans live. Some travelers wish to walk to Namtso. Due to the high altitude, it will be very hard, and you need to bring enough supplies and equipment such as tents and sleeping bags. Tashi Peninsula has no electricity. There are a few houses for accommodation, but there is no running water. When it just gets dark at night, there may be electricity for a while. All the rooms together can accommodate up to forty people. If you can't rent a room, you can only set up a tent in the open air. It is best to arrive at Tashi Peninsula early during the peak travel season and rent a room as soon as possible.
-
Food🍛
The authentic Tibetan yogurt, which has long been rumored to be delicious, is a truly authentic Tibetan meal. Namtso is a saltwater lake, but the water is not particularly salty, and it can be drunk after boiling or filtering.
-
📝Note tips:
✔️To go around the lake, it is about 280 kilometers along the lakeshore and about 320 kilometers along the simple highway. The whole journey is on foot, depending on physical conditions, 7 to 10 days.
✔️Driving around the lake requires a high off-road performance of the vehicle. There are many roads along the lake. You need to be led by someone who is familiar with the local road conditions. It takes 1 to 2 days.
✔️If you walk around the lake, you must first adapt to the plateau in Lhasa, because Namtso is nearly 5000 meters above sea level. You must be fully prepared for outdoor equipment, especially for rain protection. If you are physically fit, it takes about 8-10 days to go around the lake. If you are not physically fit, you need to be prepared to walk for about 15 days.
✔️Namtso is a saltwater lake, and the supply along the way is very poor, including water and other supplies, which need to be fully prepared. The yaks and horses carrying things need to be booked in advance in Bangor County.
✔️Route: Depart from Lhasa to Namtso Tashi Peninsula and stay, then turn Tashi Island and Yao Wang Mountain (Tashi Island must be turned in odd numbers, the custom of Tibetans is to turn Tashi Island 13 times, and then turn your own age on Yao Wang Mountain, how old you are, how many times you turn, the direction is clockwise). At Dong Tashi Bathing Gate, you can wash your face, throw treasures to Namtso, and offer Hada.

Tibet Day 6 chartered tour
DAY6: Barmu Lake - Namtso - Nalagen Mountain Pass - Nyenchen Tanglha Mountain - Lhasa
Barmu Lake: Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, I took a leisurely stroll here. You can't get close to the lake, you can only overlook Barmu Lake from a high place~ I casually took a few shots, the last two days I didn't even want to take pictures, didn't want to edit the pictures, just wanted to keep the beautiful scenery in my eyes~
Namtso: One of the three major holy lakes in Tibet, it's a must-visit spot. There are no other adjectives, it's just beautiful. This is by the lake, spent forty on the lakeside riding a horse, it was quite interesting. I went around twice, and also played with skipping stones by the lake, I can only skip three at most, I'm not good but I love to play.
Nalagen Mountain Pass: Here you can hang prayer flags and throw longda, it's very lively, but the wind on the mountain is strong, and there are so many people that it's hard to even take a picture of a stone. Everyone hung the prayer flags and left, I didn't participate. I asked the driver, these prayer flags will be regularly cleaned up, they basically won't hang for a long time, it's a bit of a spoiler haha.
Nyenchen Tanglha Mountain: After seeing the Karola Glacier and Mount Everest, everyone was not interested in this scenic spot, only I got off the car to take a look, indeed there was nothing to see, the viewing platform was dirty, and it was a distant view, it was almost the same as what I saw in the car, indeed there was no need to get off the car, getting off the car was just to take a breath~
Lhasa: Went to Lhasa and went to the shop recommended by the driver to buy local products, because I felt that the driver was quite good along the way, everyone trusted him, everyone spent quite a lot, bought some local products and saffron, finally he dropped us off at a hotel near the airport, the journey finally ended~ In the evening, I also ate delicious barbecue
Namco, a sacred lake that doesn't need too many filters
The highest large lake in the world is Namco in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, one of the "three sacred lakes" in Tibet. Namco is the first divine lake of the ancient Bon religion, and one of the famous Buddhist holy places. The Tanggula Mountain, which has been guarding the sacred lake for thousands of years, and the sparkling lake in winter, are like a painting, really beautiful.
Wherever you look, the pure and flawless lake appears in front of you, all the blue copywriting is not as gentle as it. Everything is the most primitive beauty of tranquility, that blue, at a glance, is branded in the mind and cannot be waved away. At that moment, put down everything in your heart, feel and worship this boundless plateau sacred lake with your soul, at the moment of looking at each other, it seems that the soul has been baptized and purified.

This is a small shop with a local atmosphere. Although the store is small, the taste of the food is really good. Once you taste it, you will know its 😋 deliciousness.
Shambhala Tibetan Restaurant⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The cumin lamb chops in this restaurant are really fragrant to the point of confusion. The lamb chops do not taste very muttony, 🈶️ the taste of cumin completely covers the mutton smell, and the meat is very tender.
Tibetan Big Soup Pot⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It is a local special big soup pot, you can eat very authentic food.
Is it feasible to go to Tibet in winter??
By the lake at an altitude of 4700, feel the winter wind blowing in your face.
Tibet in winter, Tibet·China, is relatively colder than usual.
The oxygen content on the plateau decreases, and many people avoid it during this season.
However,
If you are willing to bear the weight that others can't bear,
You can see the scenery that others can't see.
When I was driving on this road,
The real snowfield
Only then did the curtain rise.
Why go to Tibet in winter?
①Although this season is relatively cold, the altitude of the Sichuan-Tibet line rises all the way, and the sun is warm.
②The plateau has less precipitation in winter, and the probability of good weather is greater.
③There are fewer people in this season, and you can enjoy a more private and quiet travel experience.
④High cost performance, this season is the off-season for Sichuan-Tibet line tourism, and it is also the "Winter Tour Tibet" discount period. You can save a lot of expenses on tickets and accommodation, and you don't have to worry about crowding and queuing.
⑤Winter is the best viewing period for Laigu Glacier, Namtso, and many snow-capped mountains. The Laigu Glacier only has "blue ice" in winter, and only during this period can you get close to blue ice, ice caves, glaciers and other landscapes!
