The Global Gourmand
Suzhou has a garden larger than the Humble Administrator's Garden, yet many people are unaware of its existence
Yanshan Garden in Taicang city, the people's grand park, once known as the 'foremost famous garden in the southeast', was the private garden of Wang Shizhen, one of the 'Later Seven Masters' of the Ming dynasty, and a masterpiece of the garden master Zhang Nanyang. The pavilions in the garden are scattered amongst lush trees and greenery. With the plum blossoms in full bloom, the sense of spring is even more pronounced.
Strolling through the garden feels like being in a landscape painting. The sparse number of visitors adds to the tranquility and peace of the garden, a retreat from the hustle and bustle. Wearing Hanfu to take photos would be the icing on the cake!
Don't miss the light show at night if you're interested!

National Series 146 Taicang Yanshan Garden
🌈Historical Background:
Haining Temple was first built in the fourth year of Jianyan in the Song Dynasty, rebuilt in the Yuan Dynasty, and destroyed by fire during the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty. There is also a stele of Haining Temple in the stele gallery of Wang Xijue's former residence in Taicang. The site of Haining Temple in the Song Dynasty in Taicang was discovered during the renovation of Taicang People's Park in 2003, with a large number of stone foundations, stone pillars, strip stones, etc., as well as the remains of wall foundations and stone pavilions. The stones have relatively exquisite carvings.
🚗Highlights:
National 3A Scenic Area, Yanshan Garden has a history of more than a thousand years. The main attractions in the garden include the Song Dynasty 'Flower Stone Gang' relic 'Wanghai Peak', the site of Haining Temple, the 'Tonghai Spring' excavated in the Hongwu year of the Ming Dynasty, the large 'Iron Pot' of the Yuan Dynasty, and the 'Moyao Pavilion', etc. There are also many attractions such as 'Yanshan Hall', 'Jiashu Pavilion', and 'Xiaofeihong'.
