SSoheil MalekiI would have loved to have given this place 5/5 stars for everything but as soon as we arrived, the noise from outside was very loud, upon bringing it to the attention of the staff, they said they ”fixed the door” as it was a very large patio door but the sound was still as if we were camping outside. I managed to live with this but the rooms television was also boy possible to connect any outside devices and the Netflix just wouldn't launch which we were told it is what it is with the TV. The thing that annoyed me the most was the fact that you have to pay to use the swimming pool that they so elegantly advertise in their photos. As an extremely regular traveller, this was an absolute first for me and really didn't make any sense to me. Otherwise the place was clean, and looked very nice. Parking was 20 euros per night which was actually more expensive than hiring the car but I guess they charge for location.

JJaniceThe location is very centralised, making it extremely convenient to walk to the nearby attractions. We got upgraded to a room with a balcony which was lovely, and everything else about the room was just about perfect too. Super well upkept, maybe cos it’s relatively new too but the bathroom was very clean with zero mold spots. Water pressure was strong while the wifi and aircon / heater worked well. The only con was that the basin seemed a little choked with the water going down pretty slowly, but it wasn’t a major issue for us.

AAna Regueira PavlovicOur experience at Marquês Garden was absolutely wonderful from beginning to end. This beautiful hotel, housed in a charming 124-year-old building, is full of character, history and elegance. Every detail makes it a special place to stay.
Our suite was beautiful, comfortable and impeccably maintained, with lovely views overlooking the garden and swimming pool. The breakfast was excellent, and the overall quality of the facilities and service exceeded our expectations.
However, what truly makes this hotel exceptional is its staff. Everyone we encountered was incredibly welcoming, kind, attentive and professional. Their genuine hospitality made us feel at home throughout our stay.
We would particularly like to highlight an extraordinary gesture from one of the gentlemen working at reception. Yesterday, we accidentally left a bag containing personal belongings and gifts for our family back home in Mallorca at a restaurant called San Valentim, in Matosinhos.
When we explained what had happened, the gentleman at reception immediately took charge of the situation. He personally contacted the restaurant, arranged an Uber to collect our forgotten bag and organised its safe return to the hotel. He went above and beyond what anyone could reasonably expect, showing remarkable kindness, professionalism and a genuine willingness to help.
This is what true hospitality looks like.
It is relatively easy to find a beautiful hotel, but finding a beautiful hotel with people who genuinely care about their guests is something truly special.
We are extremely grateful for the wonderful experience and, above all, for the exceptional treatment we received.
We wholeheartedly recommend Marquês Garden to anyone visiting Porto. We would return without hesitation!

GGuest UserWe were given a nice, clean room on an upper floor with a pretty view. The bathroom was on the right through a sliding door when you entered the room. It was spacious with a shower and a bathtub. Good breakfast! The roasted tomatoes were superb and it should be a dish available every morning at the buffet.

GGuest UserThe least you expect from a five star hotel was a good service and cleanlinless. We stayed here for 5 nights and they did not change our bedsheet even though it was written that they will change it every 3 days, no refill of water, no refill of tissues and coffee and tea we had to request it. There’s a small cockroach in the bathtub. At the front desk they don’t even greet you whenever you passby I am not being entitled that I should be greeted I just compare it to other hotel where they always smile. It’s hard to call the front desk sometimes it will take 5 minutes.
On the positive side the food in the restaurant was really good and the drinks at the bar those who are working there was really nice and attentive too. I’d like to commend also Fabrizio who always smile and who helps us with our luggage when we check in and check out.

The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, making it easy to relax after a long day. I especially appreciated the quiet atmosphere and the beautiful view.
The hotel’s location was also very convenient, with easy access to nearby attractions and restaurants. Breakfast was fresh and varied, offering something for everyone. Overall, the experience exceeded my expectations, and I would definitely choose to stay here again.

One of the highlights of our stay was the beautiful river-view room. The views from the hotel were absolutely stunning, especially in the morning and at sunset. Watching the Douro River from our room was a memorable experience and made our stay in Porto even more special.
The hotel itself is stylish, comfortable, and well-designed, with a unique atmosphere that combines history and modern comfort. Overall, we were very happy with the property and would gladly stay here again.
However, we felt that some of the staff were not particularly friendly, and the introduction to the hotel facilities upon check-in was quite limited. As first-time guests, we would have appreciated more information about the hotel, its amenities, and services.
Despite this, the beautiful location, excellent river views, and overall quality of the hotel made for a very enjoyable stay.

It's truly a unique experience to stay in such a historically rich setting while enjoying modern minimalist decor, especially given its superb location in the old town's core. What particularly stood out was the hotel's pool, which directly overlooks Porto Cathedral – an absolutely unforgettable sight.
