The architectural style of the museum is also very distinctive. The appearance looks very simple. It is the teachers of Yuelu Academy who designed it themselves!

#建筑系学生和大家的游览重点好像不太一样#在长沙著名景点“岳麓书院”收获的最大惊喜却是在角落的“中国书院博物馆”。在游人们参观展品领略中国千年书院文化的时候，某两只屡屡为空间的巧妙设计所叹服。展品几乎没看，却把博物馆上上下下跑了个遍，反复体会空间的巧妙设计。不同于大多数博物馆将入口设在正中以体现庄重感，中国书院博物馆将入口设在靠近左侧且偏内的位置，显得谦逊低调。内部的展览空间布置极富趣味性，有不少地方被划分出来用作小庭院，开窗的布置让在馆内游览的人时不时可以看到窗外的绿植，不像普通博物馆般完全封闭让人觉得沉重压抑，而且还有门通向庭院，使游人可以直接接触绿植。（我才不会说某傻傻的两只在看到博物馆二楼透过二楼的窗户看到一楼的小庭院后特意又下到一楼去找通向庭院的门）还有一个很有意思的空间体验是，有个展区后的窗台处除了可以通过窗户欣赏绿植，稍微踮下脚就可以坐上去休息，内凹隐在展区后的设计给人一种秘密小空间的感觉。二楼一处座椅旁的墙的高度也是特意设计过的，是人在座椅坐下后刚刚高过人头的高度，既给人一种安全感，又不致因完全封闭而给人压迫感。二楼有一处向下开口空间也很有心，正对着下方的书院模型，开口大小也完全对应。设计者的想法应是——参观者从围栏往下看，正好可以俯视书院模型全貌。但是设计者当初没有考虑到的一点是，由于玻璃的反光太严重，导致向下看，只能看到被反射的屋顶。然后屋顶的采光也是一处亮点。通过坡屋顶的错层，而使光线从错开的部分进入室内。不同展区间的区分除了通过标有展区名字的展板，地板也做了一个软性的空间转换提示——大理石材质与木板材质的交错，低调而用心。这样一次参观才让我切实感受到，为什么对建筑的认识不能仅停留在书本，单纯的文字图片与亲身的空间体验真的是两个纬度的东西。（上网搜索后，了解到这座博物馆是由湖南大学建筑学院院长魏春雨设计的。果然经过设计的东西给人的感受就是不一样啊。可惜当时去参观的时间太晚了，不能在那里再留久一点儿。应该还有很多亮点没有留心到吧）（然后对各种旅游攻略表示深深的失望，这么一处出色的建筑，却鲜少被提及到）〔喂，这真的不是因为你们关注重点和大众不一样吗〕

中国书院博物馆是位于岳麓书院里面的一个博物馆，是中国目前唯一一所书院史博物馆，于2012年6月开馆。展馆有负一层、一层、二层共3层，可走楼梯或乘电梯上去。里面主要展览了各地书院历史介绍和古代书院的考试文化制度，有不少书院微缩模型展示。本人去时还在这看了面试讲解人员。
