Waipiʻo Valley Lookout Review

Time and nature's element have carved an unimaginably massive valley filled with deep green encrusted cliffs cut by plunging waterfalls.

Driving to the famous Waipio Valley, Legend has it that the former King was buried in a treasure land, one of the most beautiful spots on Hawaii's Big Island. When we reached the valley, we saw many cars parked on the roadside. The signboard said that the four-wheel drive vehicle could be opened. We did not hesitate. Later, we found that it was not a general thriller and no turning back.

The weather is really powerful. When we play the Valero Valley, the white clouds are winding. The valley under the blue sky is more natural and tranquil. Great hike down to see the falls and beach. Be warned it is quite steep so it can be challenging. It's also quite hot and humid so come prepared but the views are amazing!

Waipio Valley can cross the country and see the beautiful scenery of the valley. A picnic at the seaside is just fantastic. At the entrance of the valley, there is a viewing platform overlooking the whole valley. But to explore deep into the valley, you have to hike or have a four-wheel drive. We are the latter. Before entering the valley, the staff will check whether your vehicle has mounted 4WL (low-speed 4WL) and confirm that you can understand English. They are worried that we will rush into the valley and meet Kill people... Well, it turns out that we can do this off-road. Remind you that 4WL is suitable for cross-country, climbing, descending steep slopes, getting rid of difficulties, and can not be used for a long time! _________ Must be mounted in 1st gear to start, not more than 2nd gear in the whole journey! __________ If the oil lamp is on, it means that the oil overheating is caused by long climbing, because the car rental company will not use very good oil for the vehicle. At this time, you can put out the fire, let the vehicle rest, not too panic, if the water temperature is normal, the oil level is normal, you can continue to drive.

Make sure you park your car on the street and don’t overlook the parking space. Bring a glass of water and a pair of comfortable shoes for you. The bottom of the road is a cliff, so there will be some wet and a little muddy. But when you walk along the cliff edge, you find it well worth it (but be aware that the road is a bit narrow and sometimes four-wheel drives pass by you) to the black sand beach. You can see waterfalls at the end of both sides (but you can only see one waterfall if you look far). I climbed here for 25 minutes to see the scenery before returning to our car.
