公园座落于秀江路沿着袁河的一座小岛上。园内有铸铁造像的历史上江西第一状元中榜骑马图，还有他小时候读书及受家教的造像，对今人也实有教育意义。状元阁是幢有年份的木阁楼，现在阁楼内是所书画艺术宣传与创作室！

状元洲文化公园是免费的，早上有很多晨练的人，这边有不少健身器材和儿童游玩设施，市图书馆就坐落在状元洲上，这个想法也是蛮有创意。
