Photos of Skinny Bridge

Alas, Skinny Bridge is skinny no more. Originally built in 1691 the Magere Brug, Dutch for skinny bridge, was an old wooden bascule type bridge over the Amstel River in Amsterdam. The bridge was so skinny it was difficult for two pedestrians to pass each other on it. The current bridge on the site, still called Skinny Bridge, was built in 1934 and is a particularly popular spot on the river. Skinny Bridge is magnificently lit at night and a frequent target of romantics and photographers. A night trip to Skinny Bridge is a must on a visit to Amsterdam.
