Jianfu Kwan-yin Temple

Jianfu Guanyin Temple is located in Dazhigu, Hedong District, Tianjin, at the intersection of Jintang Road and Dazhigu Middle Road, covering an area of 8,400 square meters. Dazhigu is the birthplace of Tianjin. Historically, there were more than 30 monasteries and nunneries in Dazhigu, also known as "Dazhigu first, then Tianjin Wei". Jianfu Guanyin Temple was built on the site of Yaowang Temple in Dazhigu. It is a new dojo rebuilt by Buddhist Jianfu An in another place. Jianfu Nunnery, located in Xiaosunzhuang, was built during the Republic of China and is a cultural relics protection unit in Hedong District. There are 20 resident nuns now. The central axis of Jianfu Guanyin Temple consists of the archway of the Song Dynasty, the Shanmen Hall, the Tianguan Maitreya Hall, and the Yuantong Hall. On both sides, there are the Three Holy Temples in the East, the Three Holy Temples in the West, the Dharma-protecting Hall, the Earth Store Hall, the Medicine King Hall, the Shuwang Bodhisattva Hall, the Tibetan Scripture Pavilion, the Wuguan Hall, the Buddha Chanting Hall (accommodating 300 people at the same time), and the Lecture Hall. (i.e. audio-visual hall, accommodating 400 people at the same time), Buddhist hotel (i.e. the living room), computer room, monk's dormitory, warehouse and large conference room. In the basement of Yuantong Treasure Hall, the unique "Baoen Hall" will be built in the basement of the main hall to worship the Three World Tathagata and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, and can offer 10,000 tablets at the same time. Transcend the devotion, get rid of suffering and gain happiness, and be born in the pure land early. The bell tower and drum tower of the temple will be open to the outside world, with a 5-ton bronze bell (one of the temple’s three treasures) and a two-meter-diameter thunder drum hanging inside. There are also four pavilions in Song Dynasty style above the bell and drum tower, which is a good place to sit and meditate. The construction of Jianfu Guanyin Temple is based on simplicity, elegance, uniqueness, cohesion, majesty, and decoration, which not only reflects the historical appearance, but also shows modern style, which complements the nearby Tianfei Palace of Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. It will surely become a unique Buddhist activity place, a larger bhikuni jungle in the north and a tourist attraction.
