Built in the early 13th century as a gate tower for the city's western fortifications, Zytglogge has served over the years as a guard tower, prison, clock tower, center of urban life and civic memorial. Despite the many renovations it has undergone in its 800 years of existence, Zytglogge is one of Bern's most recognizable symbols and, along with its 15th-century astronomical clock, a major tourist attraction. Like any similar clock throughout Europe, the one at Zytglogge has moving pieces that go through a small routine every hour. Father time flips the hourglass, the carpenter strikes the hammer on the bell, and several other small animations make their hourly dance; however, this dance does not start at the top of the hour! In order to see the animations, make sure you arrive at least five minutes before the hour as the dance starts four minutes prior and a crowd will gather.

I look at this area as a one stop shop for lush, green meadows, numerous glacier water falls and stunning, take-your-breath-away panoramic mountain scenery surrounding the entire village at every angle, you wouldn’t know where to look first. This area is perfect for an entire family who is looking to just relax for a few days and temporarily get-away from the daily hustle and bustle of city life.A MUST VISIT #tripaway

#tripaway #grimsel hospiz #guttannen GRIMSEL HOTEL The long and adventurous journey by post bus, cable car, underground bus ride and again cable ride is very impressive. The weather on the Grimsel welcomed us very stormy, but the reception was even more charming. Despite the nasty weather we enjoyed the hotpot very much. Coffee and cake were served in the Arvensaal in front of an open fire, afterwards we visited the wine cellar to choose the right wine for dinner. The dinner, where you can choose between 4-6 courses, was simply excellent! Many thanks to the kitchen crew for responding to our wishes at such short notice. After an excellent night's rest a rich breakfast buffet awaited us.A must visit too #tripaway

#tripaway This track is simply amazing! Very well laid out and super safe! It was my first time doing actual rock climbing and i made it to the top within 3.5 hours. It’s absolutely doable for everyone with reasonable stamina and hand/foot coordination. The views are stunning and the cool water from the waterfall is a welcome refreshment on the way up! Definitely would recommend it to anyone seeking an adventure! #tripaway

#tripaway #bachalpsee It is a beautiful alpine lake, It took us about two hours for the return trip from the First top station .The hike is not that difficult although it goes up and down. Bachalpsee is a stunning place to visit. The hike up to the lake is stunning !! #tripaway

#tripaway Kleine Scheidegg is a nice/small/quaint passage point between the Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald Valleys. Great place to stop, enjoy the view, grab a beer and keep going. The walk from Mannlichen to Kleine Scheidegg is nice and generally down hill; great views of the north face of the Eiger.I highly recommend!! #tripaway
