Right, so I finally traded the grey Manchester drizzle for some proper sun. Best decision ever. Did a massive 14-day loop through Kenya and Tanzania and honestly, my brain is still trying to process it all. Mostly went because I wanted to see Kilimanjaro. Spoiler: it’s huge. Even from the Kenyan side in Amboseli, with all the elephants wandering past, it felt a bit unreal. Much bigger than the Peak District, let's put it that way. We did the whole Serengeti and Maasai Mara thing. Animals everywhere. Literal dust storms of wildebeest. I just brought my battered old hiking boots that have seen way too many muddy Sunday walks, and they did the job perfectly. No fancy brand-new safari gear needed. Just bring lots of layers because the mornings are freezing. Seriously, pack a proper jacket. The Ngorongoro crater was wild too. Like a massive volcanic bowl of wildlife. Also, picked up some local black tea there which is basically keeping me alive at my marketing desk right now. If you're thinking about doing the multi-country route, definitely sort your visas a couple of months early. It’s a bit of a faff but so worth it. Right, back to spreadsheets I guess.
