Photos of Shiquan River

Shiquan River, also known as Senge Zangbo, is dominated by wide valleys along the coast, with swamps and hot springs distributed. Most of the hot springs are diving from the fissures of igneous rocks, which not only replenish the river, but also increase the temperature of the river, so that some river sections are rarely frozen in winter. Due to its location in an arid area, the Shiquan River system is not well developed, with an average runoff depth of only 25 mm and an annual runoff of about 700 million cubic meters. Nonetheless, it remains a valuable source of water in the hinterland of the plateau, where the climate is dry and fresh water is scarce.
