The surrealist building in the center of Graz is in sharp contrast with the surrounding castles and clock towers. It is called "giant beast with gills", "giant bladder", "caterpillar" and so on. The Graz Museum of Modern Art is the embodiment and interpretation of Peter Cook's concept of "bio-existent architecture". The Modern Art Museum on the Moor River is the work of the British architect Peter Cook, which is made of blue plastic glass collage. Construction of the art gallery started in 2000 with an investment of about £23 million, and it was completed and opened in 2003. The whole art is divided into five parts: the protruding part in the middle is called "Belly" (stomach); the roof looks like a heart blood vessel called "Nozzles" (orifice); the pillars on the roof are the leisure bar Sushi- The Bar is "Needle" (needle); the ground support part is called "Pin" (pin); then there is the entrance, the ticket office, only this part was renovated from the old building in 1842, and it is still You can see the exquisite cast steel carvings at that time, and there are also bookstores and gift sales departments. The ground floor exhibition hall of the art museum has three floors. The main exhibition space is on the roof floor. The entire hall is designed without columns. The natural light required by the hall is provided by 15 Nozzles pipes protruding from the roof. There is a moving ramp in the hall, and visitors can be slowly sucked into the exhibition hall of the "belly" and "stomach" part, creating a theater effect engulfed by art, which is very novel and unique.
