Lake Ashi is the core area of Hakone tourism, located in the west of Hakone-machi, at the southern foot of Mount Komagata. It is a volcanic lake formed by volcanic activity more than 3,000 years ago and is a fascinating tourist attraction in Hakone. Lake Ashi is backed by Mount Fuji, and the lakes and mountains are opposite each other. Different seasons have different scenery and tastes. The trail around the lake is full of green pines and cedars, and the scenery is very pleasant. There are many black bass and trout in the lake. Many Japanese often go boating, fishing and swimming here. There are two quiet and beautiful towns on the north bank of the lake - Kujiri and Taoyuantai, where tourists can take a scenic boat tour of the lake to visit the beautiful scenery here.
