Butuo Temple, also known as Baolong Temple and Baoyan Courtyard, is surrounded by mountains, like a pot holder, with a depression in the middle like a pot, hence the name Butuo Temple. In the second year of Liang Qianhua (912), Seng Juehai created it, and in the second year of Song Zhiping (1065), the name was changed. It was destroyed by the soldiers at the end of the Yuan Dynasty and rebuilt at the beginning of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty, and it was renamed Butuo Temple. In the 12th year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1655), it was rebuilt and renamed Baolong Temple." During the Guangxu period of Tongzhi (1862-1908), the abbots Gensheng and Qingshan Muhua rebuilt and expanded a considerable scale. Today, there is only one Daxiong Hall.
