Bailong Temple

Bailong Temple is located in the south of Huangtian Village, Huangtang Town, Danyang City, Jiangsu Province, passing through the northern foot of the mountain. The year of construction is unknown. At the beginning, it was Pengshan Dragon Temple. In the first year of Song Jiatai (1201), the emperor bestowed the amount of "Xianji Temple". There is a dragon pool in the temple, which is connected with the mountain spring and does not dry up all year round. When the surname Shi Rong bought more than 170 acres of land to build a temple. In the tenth year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty (1860), it was destroyed and rebuilt in the ninth year of Tongzhi (1870), and it was renamed "White Dragon Temple". In the 23rd year of Guangxu (1897) and in the 28th year, it was rebuilt twice, and it was given to "benefit the common people". Originally, the temple had 3 rooms and 1 courtyard, 5 rooms in the front, 3 rooms in the middle, with four statues of King Kong on both sides and the Buddha statue in the middle; 5 rooms in the back, there was the Dragon King Hall, with 3 plaques hanging on the beams of the temple, on both sides. There are bells and drums with a diameter of 4 feet. The Bailong Temple Pond is placed in the center of the courtyard, surrounded by a wall, and there are three stone tablets in the wall. There is a street tent in front of the temple gate for passers-by to rest. In 1942, most of the temples were demolished by the Japanese army. After the liberation, only the backward and Bailongchi remained. In 1979, all the temple buildings were demolished, and the primary school was rebuilt, which is now the temple pond.
