四周不同的地方都为一有不同主题的雕塑，正门的就是四川的两位大诗人杜甫跟李白，可见四川的艺术气质从古至今都存在，美术馆也是四川美术协会的所在地。

作为一个省的美术馆，四川美术馆跟文化圈里的图书馆还有周边的建筑物，在建筑风格都是比较统一的，都是用灰白大理石作为主材，中间配有几何图形的玻璃幕墙。
