The buildings in the fortress are surrounded by Peter and Paul Cathedral (17121733), with a 123.2 m (404 ft) clock tower (the highest in the city centre) and a gold-plated angel at the top. All Russian tsars from Peter I to Alexander III were buried in Peter and Paul Cathedral, with the exception of Peter II. "Romanov Sage", Nicholas II and his family and accompanying personnel, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of his murder, was buried in the side of St. Catherine's Church on July 17, 1998. At the end of 2006, the body of Queen Maria Fyodorovna returned to her husband, Alexander III, from the Roskilde Cathedral in Denmark. The Da Gong Mausoleum is a neo-Baroque style, built in 1896-1908, connected by a corridor to the cathedral. This is to remove the body of the non-Romanov dynasty monarch from the cathedral, there is no new tomb in the church. The Dagong Mausoleum is expected to have 60 tombs, but only 13 during the Russian Revolution. The latest burial here is the grandfather of Nikolai II, Vladimir Cyrilovich (1992). The remains of his parents Cyril Vladimirovich and Victoria Feodorovna also moved here from Coburg, Germany in 1995.
