Not far from the Maijishan Mountain Grottoes, the Immortal Cliff is composed of three cliffs, five peaks and six temples. The temples of the Immortal Cliff are collectively named Huayan Temple. In the 14th year of the Yongle Period of the Ming Dynasty, Emperor Chengzu renamed Huayan Temple to Lingying Temple. He gave most of the temples on the Immortal Cliff to King Han (the brother of the Emperor) as his mansion, and so the they became King Han's private temples. Therefore, people generally refer to the Immortal Cliff and Lingying Temple by each other's names.
