Let me help you to plan your Guilin tripSo many emotions after Guilin trip, wow, even it was over Chinese New Year and we were never alone… Let me share a short summary below, of what I found the best: 1. I suggest one full day for Guilin, all walkable (and hikable, if you dare). Absolutely not to miss Two Rivers and Four Lakes evening boat trip with great light show (and live show!). My pick for restaurant is Zen Sculpture Art Restaurant, if you find time to visit them, you will find out why 2. Longji Terraces is a must. Get a driver, you need two hours each way but it absolutely worth it, start early! Stop in minority village for super-long-hair show and try to leave it without buying a souvenir… Then go to Dazhai village and take a cable car, it is a bigger place. I suggest doing cable car both ways, then leave the 2nd half of the day for Pingan village. Second village deserves more time and more walking, including walking down. if you are a hiker or this is a top season, stay overnight and do two days there! 3. River Li Four Star 4-hour Cruise is the best to get for river+hills+20RMB views plus a nice lunch. Best you use this boat to transfer to Yangshuo to stay rest couple days there, otherwise you will enjoy 1.5 hour commutes later, like we did. 4. Silver Cave in Yangshuo is a must. Fantastic lights and views not to be missed. About 2 kilometers walk inside, not hard and so many wow moments, get your camera ready! 5. Peak Ruyi in Yangshuo is a best (and easiest!) way to get enough of top-of-the-mountain views. Good walks in between with good half a day needed for this all together. Can be crowded but the place is really big. Please enjoy the glass flour walks, they are fun, uh! 6. Yangshou Silver CaveGetting There - We took a private car from our hotel. Recommended because if you get a Didi there, you might not find one to get back. you could scooter, or even bike ride there from Yangshou, or any Li River hotel,, but weather was not good enough for that. Attractions - Amazing stalactites and stalagmites lit up with funky lights. it's not a bad thing to do on a poor weather day. in December, it's probably the warmest place around (fully clothed...as there are hot springs!). Hotels - it's labelled as Guilin, but actually near to Yangshou. No hotels around the site itself. Food & Restaurants - There are some stalls with local food outside the caves. Shopping - of course!!!! inside the caves and outside...Disney style. Other- We read that you need to join a tour group, but that's not true now. You get given an audio tour guide and you can't get lost. If I remember correctly it costs 65rmb each adult.MacDsOnTour16

Spread across twelve peaks 🏞️ in the top, silver cave is quite huge and may take around 2 hours to complete the whole with leisure sighting. You can also get a audio book rented there and hear it on the way for more insights about the cave and how they're formed. It is an easy trail that can be done by anyone, while you got to be properly dressed for all the sweating 😅 inside. When it comes to hiking, China is super blessed with all the mountains and with less harmful animals. Thus as we decided to walk the talk with the nature, it led us to Guangxi province where the trails and perfectly laid (as we're not hardcore hikers) and quite a relaxing hike we had. After the hike for a while, we ventured to a nearby village to have a look at their customs and traditions. We participated in the local dance performance and the lucky one got a garland (that's me 😋). Later in the trip, we also went to see the Silver caves, which is quite magnificent. These caves are formed by volcanic flow some 1000 years of ago and still the ground holds, so we can go around and have a look.
