Wangboqun Former Residence

The former residence does not charge tickets, free, but cannot enter the house. It is a more exquisite Western-style Republic of China building in the southwest area. The former residence has not been developed, and I feel that the local government has no attitude, no change, no development, just empty there. No one guards, no fire measures. The facade is English, the three-dimensional feeling is very strong, personally prefer.

Wang Boqun's former residence is the first imitation Western-style building in Guiyang history, time flowed back to the mid-to-late 1920s, the western school of the rising Western-style architectural style began to emerge, its appearance, breaking the closed southwest hinterland city Guiyang's past brick, wooden building history. Wang Boqun's former residence in the evolution of history, although only one two-story Chinese main building and cylindrical towers remain, it is still an indispensable part of the historical accumulation and cultural heritage of the city. Wang Boqun is a native of Xingyi, Guizhou. As an early progressive, he was the president of Daxia University and Jiaotong University. He lived in three former residences in Xingyi, Shanghai and Guiyang.

It is a coincidence that the old owner of this mansion in Changning District Children's Palace, Yuyuan Road, Shanghai is Wang Boqun, and although he is from Guizhou, he really has a lot of intersection with Shanghai. After he faded from politics, Wang Boqun turned to "education to save the country". In 1924, Wang Boqun founded Daxia University (now East China Normal University) in Shanghai. In 1928, after Cai Yuanpei proposed, Wang Boqun also served as president of Jiaotong University (now Shanghai Jiaotong University). In 1929, he also served as the first president of Wuxu Commercial Shipping College (now Shanghai Maritime University).
