Luberon

Luberon is a region dotted with charming villages built in the medieval period. It is a region in central Provence in southern France and is part of the French Alps.

It has a maximum elevation of 1,256 meters (4,121 feet) and an area of approximately 600 square kilometers (230 square miles). It consists of three mountain ranges (from west to east): Petit Luberon, Grand Luberon and Luberon Oriental. There are many towns and villages as well as farmland in the valleys to the north and south; the north is marked by Calavon and the south by Durance.

Among the villages of Luberon, five are among the most beautiful in France. Well-preserved, Ansouis is perhaps the most beautiful castle in the region, and its pretty French gardens are a delight to the eye. Lourmalin with its Renaissance castle, bell tower, ancient facades and art, numerous old buildings form an unforgettable view of the Luberon and its heritage buildings attract many lovers of stone: Castellet, fourteenth century of churches, bell towers and bell towers, as well as old mansions and mansions of the eighteenth century. Perched on an ocher cliff, Roussillon exudes unparalleled charm. Walk through its sloping alleys and admire the beautiful houses, colorful facades, the remains of the city walls, and the bell towers and Romanesque churches. Other villages are worth visiting as well. The perched village of Bonnieux, with its panoramic views of the Petite Luberon and the Vaucluse Mountains, its beautiful heritage is represented by a church in a mixed Romanesque and Gothic style, as well as the remains of medieval towers and ramparts. La Tour-D'Aigues is located on the banks of a small river and will take you to discover its alleys, Renaissance castle or churches. The village of Lacoste is dominated by its majestic castle, which once belonged to the Marquis de Sade and now hosts a festival dedicated to theatre, dance and opera every summer. Another perched village, Oppède-le-Vieux also has a very beautiful heritage: the ruins of a medieval castle, old houses dating back to the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, the collegiate church of the twelfth century, washhouses. Stroll along the cobbled streets and then don't hesitate to climb to the top of the village for stunning panoramic views!
