Located inside the Datong old city, the inn itself is a historic building and has a history of its own. There are many interesting decors to look at in the property. The location is excellent and nearby some very good restaurants. It has a laundry room with 2 washers and 1 dryer which are very important in my opinion.The room was very nice, the cleanliness was very good and kept in very good condition. Although there was no rotating menu for the buffet breakfast each morning, the food is good and there's also beef/lamb offal rice noodles on request. The best parts about the hotel are the staff and service. They were extremely welcoming and friendly. I usually get disappointed by restaurant recommendations by hotel staff but all the restaurants recommended were excellent and not overly expensive. They could help you make a reservation (those restaurants get super busy on weekends and holidays) as well if you don't speak Chinese. We had to check out really early on the last day and the staff promptly packed us some eggs and bread for breakfast even though we didn't request it the night prior. I'm sure if you request it the day/night before, they'll be able to pack you something more substantial. I don't normally leave reviews but this property was worth my time.

My solo trip to Northern Shanxi led me to choose the Datong Jixiashan, and my overall experience far exceeded my expectations. The room was much larger than I'd imagined, and the furniture was all high-quality. The architectural style throughout the hotel was also very photogenic, and the space planning and details were tastefully done, making for a truly comfortable stay. What touched me the most was the service. I accidentally twisted my ankle while out sightseeing and asked the hotel for some ice. To my surprise, the front desk staff, upon hearing about it, quickly sent up a medical ice pack, which prevented me from getting frostbite during extended icing – their attitude was so gentle and thoughtful. In the evening, they even offered a sweet night porridge, a truly heartwarming gesture for travelers. Everything, from the environment to the service, was meticulously arranged. It's not just a beautiful guesthouse; it's a place filled with warmth and human touch. Plus, the breakfast was abundant and delicious! I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Datong. It was a very reassuring and healing accommodation experience. I'd love to bring my parents here next time.

First off, the guesthouse's location is excellent. It's on the quieter northern side of the old town, very peaceful, not far from the parking lot, and close enough to the main road for easy taxi access. The room has a simple, clean aesthetic, and what you see is truly what you get. Although Datong in Chinese New Year was quite cold, the room temperature was perfect – short sleeves were fine. During this trip to Datong, we experienced both a sandstorm and a cold front, but what left the deepest impression on me was the guesthouse's front desk staff. Our group of over ten people stayed for four days, and both ladies working shifts at the front desk were incredibly kind, polite, gentle, and patient. Since most of our group is Hui Muslim, they were constantly concerned about our dining needs and recommended restaurants for us. While breakfast was a bit of a walk from the guesthouse, the food was delicious. Every day I looked forward to the breakfast's knife-cut noodles, and the vegetarian toppings were also tasty. The lady at the restaurant was very warm and genuine, and her local accent made her sound especially friendly. My companions all agreed that choosing this guesthouse was a great success, and we'll definitely stay here again if we have the chance to visit Datong!

We spent out last night of our trip at Kempinski Taiyuan, and it did not disappoint. The receptionist upgraded up to a room on a high floor with a view of the city. They also gave us fresh fruits and free minibar. They had everything you would expect of a five star hotel, and the location is in a bustling part of the city. Would definitely come back.

Beautiful new hotel. Very friendly staff who offered two gifts to every room during the national holiday. Room felt spacious and luxurious and was sunny and mostly quiet during a very busy holiday period. Hotel restaurant was also delicious with good service. We ate there twice. We also had breakfast everyday of our stay. Very nice quality including lots of local ingredients and choices was fantastic! The hotel is so conveniently located in the ancient city. Walking distance to a really nice cafe with great coffee, lots of restaurants and all the main attractions including pop up laneway markets selling ancient treasures. Honestly, it’s a fantastic hotel and felt worth the price. During our road trip, we randomly booked a hotel near the Yongle Palace. As soon as we turned the corner on the way to the hotel, we were greeted by a breathtaking view of the Yellow River, a picturesque scene. We were pleasantly surprised! The hotel is nestled mid-mountain, facing the water and backed by mountains. It feels secluded and private. There's private parking, the front desk is attentive and comfortable, the housekeepers provide attentive service, and luggage is delivered to your room by electric cart. The rooms are fully equipped, clean, and the bedding is comfortable. Our single-family cottage has its own private pool, which the kids loved. We had dinner à la carte at the hotel, and I loved the large Yellow River carp dish. The kids, who usually don't like fish, were eager to try it. The water view in front of the reception hall in the evening was particularly beautiful, especially during the blues, making it a great photo opportunity. The breakfast was perfectly balanced and well-presented. Upon departure, the housekeeper politely said goodbye and thoughtfully provided some local snacks for the journey. Due to time constraints, we only stayed for one night, so there were many things we didn't experience, such as the children's activity center and swimming pool. It's a perfect place for a family vacation. I like this hotel very much. Next time I come here on vacation, I will book a room with a river view and bring my kids to have a good time for a few days.

This was the best hotel of my entire trip. It was spotless, andvery well laid out around small courtyards. If I were traveling with a large family , I would request rooms on the first floor that open out into the same courtyard . There were multiple common spaces that were comfortable and interesting. The laundry room was properly equipped and the staff showed me how to use the appliances. Breakfast was delicious, with a variety of hot dishes, noodles made to order, a coffee machine with excellent coffee, and fresh fruit. The hotel was well located. It fronts onto a quiet tidy alley, one block from the chaotic (and fun) pedestrian food street and shopping street. It was an easy walk to the Shanxi Province group of museums. I do have a few suggestions. 1. My taxi from the train station could not find the hotel. He left me nearby but I wandered around dragging my suitcase for a good half hour until the six people who joined in to help, were successful! It would help to improve the location identifiers in Amap, and any other map a guest or taxi driver might need. 2. When I asked the front desk for help arranging a taxi to the train station the afternoon before my departure, I was given to understand that I should just go out and hail a taxi the following morning. At 7:00am, there were no taxis anywhere nearby. I ended up walking a kilometer with my bags to take the subway. So…even though the service is great, don’t count on hotel help with transfers. Leave yourself plenty of time and have a “plan B” when you depart. The location is not easy for a taxi to find - cars cannot enter that alley!

Excellent! First, let's talk about the location. It's centrally located in Datong, very close to attractions like Huayan Temple, Shanhua Temple, and the Nine-Dragon Wall, all within walking distance. Dining is also very convenient, with several restaurants recommended on Xiaohongshu nearby. Next, the service. As expected of an established hotel, the service is incredibly professional and enthusiastic. The doorman will help you carry your luggage to your room. I even saw them squatting down to meticulously wipe the entrance clean – truly dedicated, especially in this cold weather! Finally, I must mention the hotel's dining. The dishes come in small portions, and the service is very fast. All the recommended dishes are delicious, and the ambiance is first-class. My only regret is having such a small appetite! The breakfast buffet is also exquisite! And the complimentary bathhouse tickets were a great bonus. There are two pools with comfortable water temperatures and very clean water. The scrub masseur was also very professional. I stayed at the Garden Hotel for all 4 days of my trip to Datong, experiencing both buildings A and B, and both were great. Although building B doesn't include meals, it felt a bit newer than building A. This is the first time I've written such a detailed review, but it's genuinely excellent, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Datong!

I came to see the concert and I liked the fact that the Intercontinental Hotel could pick me up. The service and environment were very good. There were some minor incidents in the middle, but they were solved quickly. The only question was that I vomited for two consecutive days after breakfast. I want to ask if the soft-boiled fried eggs in the hotel breakfast were sterile eggs?

This hotel is centrally located within the ancient city, very close to the main street. It's a charming, traditional courtyard-style hotel that offers a peaceful retreat amidst the bustling area. The rooms are equipped with modern smart home technology. We visited during the Chinese New Year holiday, so it was very crowded, and parking for self-drivers was a challenge. However, a helpful shuttle driver found us a spot and transferred our car to the hotel. The environment is beautiful, very clean, and the service is warm and friendly. It's probably the most upscale option within the ancient city.
