Batam Arrival Card: How to Apply Online & Entry Requirements

Batam Arrival Card

If you're heading to Batam, you'll need to complete Indonesia's digital arrival declaration, even if you're only visiting for a day from Singapore. The Batam Arrival Card is completed through All Indonesia, the same online system used by travellers arriving in Bali, Jakarta and elsewhere in Indonesia.

The form is free, takes just a few minutes to complete and can be submitted within three days (72 hours) before arrival. Here's how to fill it out, which ferry terminal to select, and what Australian passport holders need to know about visas.

Do Australians Need a Batam Arrival Card?

Yes. Australian passport holders entering Batam must complete the All Indonesia arrival declaration, even when you’re arriving by ferry from Singapore.

Indonesia introduced the system at Batam's international ferry ports on 1 September 2025, before expanding it nationwide. The arrival card is a combination of immigration, customs, health and quarantine declarations all rolled into one digital form.

It’s a requirement whether you’re visiting for a longer holiday or just a short stop or a day trip from Singapore. Note that the Batam Arrival Card is not a visa. Australian passport holders must also meet Indonesia's separate visa requirements.

When Can You Apply for a Batam Arrival Card?

How to Complete the Batam Arrival Card Online: Step-by-Step

You can complete the Batam Arrival Card online, either via your mobile or on the computer. There’s no need to download an app, just as long as you’re using the official website.

Here are the steps for filling out your arrival card:

Step 1: Open the official All Indonesia website

Visit allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id, and select the button for ‘Foreign Visitor’ to start a new arrival declaration. If the website doesn't open in English, you can change the language using the menu at the top.

Step 2: Passport Details & Personal Information

Complete the personal information fields. For this section, you’ll need your passport handy. You’ll need to fill out the following:

  • Full name and date of birth
  • Nationality
  • Passport number and expiry date
  • Contact information, including phone number and email address.

Step 3: Arrival Details

The next section is where you’ll need to add when you’re arriving and when you’re departing Indonesia.

It also asks you whether you already have a visa to enter Indonesia. If you select yes, it asks for your visa number, so have it handy. If you select no, it lets you know that you can apply for Indonesia's ‘Visa on Arrival’ after you have completed the arrival card.

How to Complete the Batam Arrival Card Online: Arrival Details

Step 4: Mode of Transportation

In the next page, you’ll be asked to enter the details of how you’re arriving in Indonesia. Here, select ‘Sea’ or ‘Air’ depending on how you’re arriving, which will bring up more boxes to fill out below, including the Port of Entry, Type of Transport, and Vessel Name or Flight Number.

You'll also need to provide your accommodation details where requested.

How to Complete the Batam Arrival Card Online: Mode of Transportation

Step 5: Complete the Customs and Health Declaration

All Indonesia combines several arrival formalities in one system, so you'll be asked about goods you're bringing into Indonesia and relevant health or quarantine information.

Declare any items that fall within the form's reporting requirements, even if you're only visiting Batam for a few hours.

Step 6: Submit and Save Your QR Code

Review the details, submit the declaration and save the resulting QR code on your mobile. Keep the code accessible for the arrival process at your Batam ferry terminal. You can save a screenshot or a PDF copy rather than relying on reopening the website.

Do Australians Need a Visa for Batam?

Yes. Australian passport holders generally need a visa to enter Batam, even for a day trip from Singapore. The Batam Arrival Card is a separate, free declaration and does not replace your visa.

There are two main Visa on Arrival options worth knowing about:

Visa type

Cost

Length of stay

How to apply

Special Riau Islands VOA

IDR250,000 (~AU$20)

Up to 7 days

At designated ferry terminals

Standard VOA or e-VOA

IDR500,000 (~AU$40)

Up to 30 days, extendable once

Online or upon arrival

The Cheaper 7-Day Visa for Batam

If you're only heading across from Singapore for a day trip or a short stay in Batam, the special 7-day Visa on Arrival for IDR250,000 could save you money.

This visa is available at designated international ferry terminals in the Riau Islands, including Batam. You'll need to purchase it in person when you arrive, as it's not available through the online e-VOA application system.

The visa allows a stay of up to seven days and cannot be extended. If you're planning to stay longer, the standard 30-day VOA is the better option.

Batam Entry Procedure: What to Do Upon Arrival

Once you arrive in Batam, you'll need to clear Indonesian immigration and customs before heading out to explore the island. The process is fairly straightforward.

Here's the usual order:

Disembark → Visa on Arrival (if required) → Immigration → Baggage collection → Customs

  • Visa on Arrival: If you haven't arranged an e-VOA before travelling and need a visa, head to the designated Visa on Arrival counter before joining the immigration queue. The standard VOA costs IDR500,000.
  • Immigration: Present your physical passport to the immigration officer. You may also be asked to show your return or onward ferry ticket and accommodation details, so have these accessible on your phone.
  • Customs: After collecting your luggage, head towards the customs checkpoint. Have your All Indonesia QR code ready to show or scan when requested. This is the code you received after submitting your Batam Arrival Card online.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Excellent Stay with a Perfect Location! I had a wonderful stay at this hotel and was genuinely impressed with the overall experience. The location is one of its biggest advantages — BCS Mall, Grand Batam Mall, Alfamart, Indomaret, Fore Coffee, and plenty of local street food are all within walking distance. It’s incredibly convenient and makes exploring the surrounding area so easy. The room was exceptionally clean, neat, well-organised, and smelled fresh and pleasant. Everything was well taken care of, which made the room very comfortable to return to after a long day. The only minor improvement I would suggest is some maintenance for the flooring and the bathroom door. The breakfast was another highlight. There was a great variety of food to choose from, and the taste was genuinely good. There were plenty of options, so it was easy to find something enjoyable for breakfast. The service was also excellent. Both the front desk and housekeeping teams were friendly, welcoming, helpful, and attentive throughout my stay. Their warm and professional service really made the experience even better. Overall, this hotel offers an excellent combination of a fantastic location, cleanliness, good breakfast, and outstanding service. I truly enjoyed my stay and would definitely be happy to stay here again on my next visit to Batam. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I recently stayed at Planet Holiday Hotel Batam for 3 nights and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. One of the highlights of my stay was being pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade to a suite, which made the trip even more comfortable and memorable. The suite was spacious, clean, and well-maintained, with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The hotel’s location is excellent and one of its biggest advantages. It’s conveniently surrounded by shopping malls, plenty of food options, convenience stores, and Batam’s vibrant nightlife, making it easy to explore the area without travelling far. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always ready to assist with a smile. Check-in and check-out were smooth, and the overall service exceeded my expectations. If you’re looking for a hotel that offers great value, a strategic location, comfortable rooms, and excellent hospitality, I would definitely recommend Planet Holiday Hotel Batam. Thank you to the team for making my stay so enjoyable—I look forward to returning on my next trip to Batam.

I had a wonderful experience at Holiday Inn Resort Batam from check-in until check-out. Everything exceeded my expectations. The staff were exceptionally friendly, professional, and attentive throughout my stay. The hotel was spotless, well-maintained, and provided a very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. We stayed in the Two-Bedroom Suite, which was incredibly spacious and perfect for families or groups. The generous living space made our stay even more comfortable. The only small suggestion for improvement would be to consider adding a sink and a microwave to the unit, which would make it even more convenient for longer stays. 😅 The facilities are truly superb. The swimming pools are large and perfect for both adults and children. The gym is well-equipped, and the spa offers a great place to unwind and recharge. Families will especially appreciate the kids’ game area and leisure room, which provide plenty of entertainment options. Overall, the combination of excellent service, cleanliness, spacious accommodation, and outstanding facilities made my stay memorable. I highly recommend Holiday Inn Resort Batam to families, couples, and anyone looking for a relaxing getaway. I will definitely return in the future.

Location is great, but cleanliness of the apartment could be better. There is a lot of dust and it was dirty underneath the double bed, which was slightly evaluated and could have been cleaned easily. My wife has to sweep the floor when we first check in. Pillows could be more firm. Sink chocked up when frequently used , but it was a small matter as we are out of the house a lot . Host is very responsive and delivered water and toilet paper everyday when we request for it. Wifi was stable . Apartment was simple but good for a short getaway for families with kids.

Unfortunately, my overall experience during this stay was quite disappointing, and I feel there is still a significant gap between the hotel’s standards and the actual guest experience. First of all, the breakfast selection was quite limited. On the second day, the spring onions served at breakfast were already dry and wilted, giving the impression that they had been left overnight. They certainly did not look fresh, which was rather concerning in terms of food quality. The cleanliness and maintenance of the room also need improvement. The glass windows were covered with obvious wiping marks, making them look dull and far from clean or bright. The bed sheets, duvet covers and bath towels also looked quite old and worn, with some appearing dark and discoloured. This made the room feel less clean and comfortable than expected. The soundproofing was particularly poor. When the neighbouring room played music, the sound was so clear that it felt as though the music was playing inside our own room. This seriously affected our ability to rest. The bathroom could also be more thoughtfully designed. The shower head was positioned too low and would be much more convenient if it were installed higher. Not every guest prefers using a bathtub, so providing a more practical and comfortable shower option would give guests greater choice. I hope the hotel will focus not only on its appearance and marketing, but also on the basic details that directly affect the guest experience, especially cleanliness, bedding and towels, soundproofing, breakfast quality and room facilities. Based on this stay, there is definitely considerable room for improvement.
