There’s room for improvement for the check in service. I provide my personal id card for check in but the customer service requested me the booking number which I find it ridiculous. The hotel was booked under my name and they supposed could have checked my booking right away. The customer service replied that it was relatively troublesome if only id is provided. I am clueless as to the standard of customer service provided by this 5 stars hotel. The rest of my stay is pleasant.

The hotel is in a great location. You can directly see the main peak of Nanga Bawa from the room. You can have afternoon tea and watch the sunrise on the golden mountain. The hotel has convenient parking, cleanliness, and the room is very large and comfortable. I stayed another night directly after checking in. It is also convenient to eat and shop around.

When visiting Tibet in the off-season (December), it's essential to stay in a warm hotel to alleviate the discomfort of high altitude. Even in Tibet, Shangri-La's breakfast maintains its usual high standard. Be sure to try the tsampa and homemade yogurt.
