"This was a superb and very comfortable hotel. We were upgraded to a family room with balcony and lake views although the extra space included a room with bunk beds which we did not need. The hotel has had a total refurbishment in the past few years and is contemporary but not too modern. Service was top notch. Although there was a wedding on the night we arrived our small group ate in the restaurant and had outstanding food. Superb breakfast."

"We booked for 1 night in the short term. The room was spacious and had a small balcony, from the balcony we could look through the street to the lake. The hotel is directly on the promenade in Ascona and is therefore without parking. There are parks in foot, but there were still some free motorcycles."

"The Jazz Hotel is a cheaply furnished hotel in a central location in Ascona. The rooms are cheaply furnished and soundproof. We booked through a reputable booking platform. For a full week's stay, we were given the worst and noisiest room in the hotel, right next to reception with loud music and opposite the breakfast room and a freely accessible coffee machine. This meant no sleeping in and no privacy. We therefore asked for a quieter room. For an additional charge of CHF 250 (!), we were able to move into the same cheaply furnished, small room on a different floor. I'm unclear as to why we were charged this extra fee; it was supposedly an upgrade. The bathroom is old and very small, so you often end up hitting yourself. The shower was very small and calcified. The breakfast room has the ambiance of a train station waiting room. The breakfast is straightforward and always the same, served carelessly with lots of ready-made products. There wasn't fresh bread, rolls, or croissants every day, and stale sausage, cheese, and Bircher muesli were offered every day. Conversation in the breakfast room was almost impossible due to the noisy refrigerated counter. This was by far the worst place I've ever spent my time in, and the price was definitely not cheap. Never again."

"From the moment you arrive, you are in good hands. The service sets standards. If you love small details, you will get your money's worth. If Ascona, then Eden Roc. I would even go so far as to say that a visit to Ascona is worth it for a stay at the Eden Roc. Lake Maggiore is omnipresent in the hotel. The outdoor area is right on the shore. The service surprises with small details that put a smile on your face. Outstanding cleanliness. And a spa area that leaves nothing to be desired. With a heated outdoor pool that is still really warm and offers a play of light in the water vapor at night."

"Right on the water with a great vibe, I stayed here just one nigh, but would have liked to stay. The location is unbeatable, 10 mins from the water. This is a boutique hotel in the truest sense. I got a warm welcome, the hotel had a nice modern and clean layout and my room had some nice individual touches. I was lodged at the top on the 4th floor and maybe the room was a touch small, but not complaints. There is a honesty bar, a large terrace and a spa with a pool. Can recommend."
Giardino Ascona
"Giardino Ascona is an oasis of relaxation and beauty somewhat removed from the town and waterfront of Ascona itself. One of the top three hotels in the area, it boasts an indoor pool, spa, outdoor pool with expansive surrounding lawn and copious lawn furniture, outdoor sitting area with umbrellas for shade, and a pleasant indoor - outdoor bar area. The positives began the moment we arrived. Our rental car was whisked away by the valets immediately (with a promise, kept, to charge its hybrid battery), the front desk staff explained the hotel and escorted us to our very pleasant, spacious balcony room, and our guest services member made dinner reservations for us. We enjoyed both of its outstanding restaurants on successive nights: Hide & Seek, and the two-Michelin star ECCO. Service in both was top level and, in ECCO the sommelier is helpful, knowledgeable and unpretentious (and introduced us to the unpretentious young chef after dinner, an added treat). Breakfast is buffet style with a very broad and offering of highest quality, from breads to meats and cheeses, fruits, drinks, and sweet pastries. The Ascona waterfront is a 30-minute hike away past a golf course, yacht basin and public beach areas. We would not hesitate to return to this garden oasis."

My daughter and I stayed there for three nights in July and found the hotel delightful - the view from the rooms and gardens was splendid, the breakfast selection was excellent and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. We didn’t come by car, but found the local buses were clean, free to tourists and easy to use. Would we return to the Collinetta? The answer is a big yes!"
