"This is a great option for families with young kids. There are two bedroom apartments and they provide cots and high chairs free of charge. We used the high chairs and they were new and safe. The pool is great but not heated. Kids will love it, parents will get in on sunny days. The apartments are so centrally located. Walk to the bakery, IGA, lots of places to eat. It is right next door to the only public playground on the island and they have an access gate directly to it. Great for toddlers/preschoolers. There's also a little skate park and a rugby field there. You need to request fresh towels a day in advance which is a little annoying (unless you stay 8 days - we stayed 7 days). The internet is free but woeful. Download everything you need before you go or head over to the pizza place, which has fantastic internet. If you plan to work here, you'll need to get a local sim to get your own internet happening. Staff are friendly, everything is clean, there are guest laundries ($5 per load, $5 for the dryer) and many hills hoists to dry wet gear (if it's not raining!). Bring some indoor activities for the kidlets. Half our week was wet and no reception ABC kids on the TV (they got some other stations, just not everything). The Olive cafe has kids toys and books. Prinke Eco Store has seasonal fruit, brown rice crackers and is kid friendly. The lavender farm has kids toys and great baked potatoes (and Sunday sesh vibes) - Sunday only. Bakery is great for kids (and adults!). Also of businesses have wifi available for customers. There's a kids book swap down near Anglicare past the knitwear shop. Bring some good quality books to read, then add to their collection. There's also an opp shop near the Folk Museum which had a few toys but could use some good quality toy donations, if you bring something you are aging out of."

"A great place to stay on Norfolk Island. Rooms had what you wanted and the staff were fantastic, always a smile snd hello and happy to help. Breakfast was good as were tha lunches I had there on 2 days. The hotel caters well for Tour Groups be they large or small. Keep up the good work."

"Upon arrival we were greeted by the manager and taken to our room. The rooms were very clean. A generous starter breakfast was provided (fresh bread, butter pats, spreads, 200ml milk and small carton of fruit juice. The beds were very comfortable. The units are not new but seem reasonably well maintained."

"The stay at Mokutu was perfect. Great customer service from collection at the airport with our own hire car, clean and comfortable accomodation with everything we needed! Kids loved the pool, especially the spa and the water feature. For outdoor cooking there are both gas and wood BBQ’s. The hosts Cherie and Troy were fantastic - nothing was too much trouble. A great base to go exploring Norfolk Island!"

"The Islander Lodge was fabulous. The standout is the breathtaking views of the Kingston heritage area, scenic two islands and water views. Situated only a short drive to town and services, but in a quiet peaceful area, the location is idyllic. The apartments are equipped with all you need for your stay; well designed, roomy, comfortable, very clean and well maintained. Each has its own private balcony at the front and patio out the back. Should we visit Norfolk again this would be our number one choice. I can see why people stay here multiple times."

"We stayed in Cabin 15, a two-bedroom self-contained apartment set slightly apart from the others, which made it feel wonderfully private (and even more so as the adjoining apartment was unoccupied during our stay). It had everything we needed—clean, spacious, and with very comfortable beds and new sheeting and pillows. The highlight was definitely the beautiful valley views and the large sliding doors opening onto a wraparound verandah—perfect for slow mornings and relaxed evenings. Yes, it’s a little dated, but that’s part of the charm—just like Norfolk Island itself. The location is fantastic if you’re looking to be out of town, with an easy walk down to Kingston and Emily Bay (though fair warning—the walk back up the hill is a workout… I didn’t quite conquer it!). We emailed the second day asking for a bedside lamp and a little extra soap, and received a prompt, helpful response—everything was sorted straight away, which we really appreciated. There were also multiple towels supplied per guest and a top-loading washing machine, which made the week's stay really easy and comfortable. We even found ourselves practising the friendly locals’ wave—with that classic little twist of the hand—which just added to the relaxed, welcoming feel of the island. And the absolute standout? The incredible non-chlorinated drinking water—pure liquid gold. A truly lovely stay. "
