My 9-day trip to Southern Xinjiang went smoothly, culminating in a stay at the Atour Hotel in Aksu. Check-in was easy, and the receptionist even kindly recommended several local restaurants, reminding us that the room had central heating and the temperature couldn't be adjusted, suggesting we use the air conditioning if it was too hot. However, to my utter dismay, the consistently highly rated Atour Hotel Aksu turned off the air conditioning at night, leaving us unable to regulate the room temperature. In the northern climate with central heating, we spent the entire night awake in temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius. The air in the room was practically suffocating; it felt like our throats were on fire. We ended up having to leave the door and windows open, and were forced to check out early at 6 AM to catch our flight. As a hotel that frequently operates in northern China, I don't know why they turned off the air conditioning, and their failure to address our complaint after we contacted the front desk is truly disappointing!"
