"It is close to Kamisawa Station. The hot springs aren't spacious, but they are nice. There isn't a convenience store right next door, but it is just a short walk away. All the staff are very friendly! I would like to thank the female staff member at the front desk who kindly assisted me in English. The lobby on the first floor is also really pretty. If you are visiting Suwa, I highly recommend this place."

"Location: A 10-minute walk from Kami-Suwa Station, which is acceptable. There are convenience stores a couple of blocks away, and a small shop inside the hotel. However, Kami-Suwa is very dark at night with few and dim streetlights, making it a little scary to walk alone. Cleanliness: Incredibly clean! Most hotels just change the beds, collect the trash, and wipe things down, which is why I always use disinfectant wipes to clean myself at every hotel. Usually, the wipes turn black after use, but this hotel is one of the few where the wipes didn't! I appreciate the cleaning staff's responsibility; the hotel should reward their excellent service. Service: Although you might not see anyone in the lobby, the staff are actually in their offices. Just walk to the lobby counter or the small shop, and a staff member will come to you shortly. Facilities: The hotel has onsen (hot springs), one indoor and one outdoor. The indoor temperature is a little higher, but still within acceptable limits. The outdoor temperature could actually be a bit higher. Also, the rooms have bathrooms, so you won't be pressured to use the onsen. The breakfast buffet was delicious, made with local ingredients. The oden was just as good as what you get elsewhere! The cheesecake for dessert was amazing; I ate three! After breakfast, you can even take away a cup of coffee or tea – fantastic! Highly recommend buying breakfast. Overall: Very satisfied. I highly recommend this hotel if you're staying in Kamisuto. It's clean, has a nice onsen (hot spring) and a private bathroom, and the breakfast is superb. There are no downsides! It feels like a four-star hotel, not just a two-star one."

It's about a 5-minute walk from Kami-Suwa Station on the JR Chuo Main Line. It's about a 15-minute drive from Suwa Interchange on the Chuo Expressway. From Okaya Interchange, take Route 20 towards Kofu and it's about a 20-minute drive. The shores of Lake Suwa can be enjoyed all year round. There is a large natural hot spring bath, making it ideal for hot spring trips and sightseeing. Single rooms are available, so you can also use it as a base for business.

"Positive aspects: The hotel is right next to Katakura-kan, about a 10-minute walk from Kami-Suwa Station, 8 minutes from Lake Suwa, and a FamilyMart convenience store is a 3-minute walk away. It's a Route Inn chain hotel, and has most of the basic amenities expected of a three-star hotel. Cleanliness and common facilities are adequate. Because it's a small town and the off-season, it's very quiet. A notable feature is its own free onsen (hot spring) public bath. The room was booked late, and the 350 yen room rate including a buffet breakfast was reasonable. Negative aspects: The hotel seems to have been operating for a long time and is somewhat outdated. Because it's a small town, there are no restaurants near the hotel; you need to go to the train station area to eat."

Hotel Saginoyu is a long established luxurious Japanese ryokan at Lake Suwa. Please enjoy the starry night sky of Nagano while relaxing at the open-air bath. Hotel is equipped with gallery of Japanese paintings. The latest dinner time is 19:30. Please note that dinner will not be served or refunded if you arrive after this time. We hope for your kind understanding and cooperation.

"It was the first night of my entire trip—and also the most expensive one. But it was absolutely worth it! Lake Suwa was right in front of the hotel. If you take the train, it might be a bit of a walk, but since I drove, the location was perfect. The hotel was incredibly spacious, and the onsen was lovely. Dinner (a full course meal) was exceptional, and breakfast was just as impressive—absolutely delicious! One thing I still wonder about: what were those insects outside the window at night? They clung to the glass, and I was afraid they might get inside. Thankfully, the window seals were excellent, so none of them made it indoors. Only the outdoor bath had a few, which was understandable. I truly hope I can go back again—with my mom next time!"

"I booked the hotel last minute, the night before. The hotel has a shuttle bus to Kami-Suwa. Two things to note: First, you need to book in advance. I filled out a reservation form on their website the night before, and confirmed it was available by phone the next day. You can also book directly by phone. Second, I didn't notice when booking that the shuttle doesn't pick you up from the taxi stand or parking lot in front of Kami-Suwa. You have to cross a pedestrian bridge to reach the stop (on the west side). Lake Suwa is in front of the hotel, and you can see Mount Fuji to the south. The onsen (hot spring) is nice, with several baths, including an open-air one. The hotel has its own Chinese restaurant. We came back late from Tateishi Park and ordered Mapo Tofu noodles and Hot and Sour Soup noodles. Yes, noodles! To be honest, these are dishes I'm quite picky about. The Mapo Tofu used minced beef and Chinese seasonings, and the Hot and Sour Soup used bamboo shoots and seafood broth. If it weren't for the fact that it was too sweet according to Japanese tastes and served with noodles, I would have given it full marks. Anyway, we finished it all. The hotel room is Japanese-style, and they made up the beds for us at dinner. We went to soak in the hot springs, one indoor and one outdoor, both were very nice. The hotel was a pleasant surprise, a completely unexpected find."
