"I booked Hôtel de l'Orme in Évreux because the town looked quaint and was a good overnight stop-off en route from the UK to Portugal. The hotel was an easy walk into the centre of the town so the location was perfect. There was a buffet breakfast with a good selection of hams, cheeses, pastries, cereal etc. The staff were friendly and helpful. To be fair to the hotel, it is only 3* and it is probably a case of “you get what you pay for” so the following comments should be seen in that light. I had booked two ordinary double rooms for our family (£48 per room) but when I saw my husband’s facial expression on our arrival, I hurriedly got our room upgraded to a “comfort room” which turned out to be one of the refurbished rooms. Our son’s room had older decor and was not refurbished. The corridors were tatty looking; the bedroom doors were chipped; no air-conditioning but it wasn’t that hot so that wasn’t a problem; no hooks in our newer bathroom with walk-in shower for hanging up towels, although my son’s older bathroom (with shower over bath) did have towel hooks. Carpet in son’s bedroom very old looking with blotches. But rooms were clean. And as per normal in continental hotels, no tea or coffee-making facilities in the room. Parking - there is no hotel parking. We stayed over a weekend when the street parking was free. We were lucky and found a spot right beside the hotel. I’m guessing that it might not be so easy during the working week."

"My wife and I were delighted to stay here during our Seine cycle trip. The location is ideal... on the Seine with a relaxing garden next to it and a rooftop sitting area for an even better view. The rooms overlooking the river are a must. They are recently updated and very comfortable. We loved our dinner and breakfast. The dinner was one of our better meals on our two week trip. We generally like to explore the area, but this hotel invites you to settle in and relax and enjoy every minute of the stay. As a bonus, the hotel offers indoor bicycle storage with racks, pumps and electrical outlets. A perfect stay for us!"

"Nice and rustic, the amenities and stay was made tolerable by the fact that there are no hotels nearby and this this charming place with no elevators and a spare breakfast and no room service, serves as a jewel. For mature and level headed travelers. The staff was kind and patient but us Americans do test the French. Almost none of them spoke English but we got by handsomely."

"We were unlucky with the weather but despite that enjoyed this hotel very much. The spa was nice. The food was amazing - the dinner in the evening was beyond compare. The staff were great especially the chap on reception. We had a wonderful time and imagine it would have been even better in nice weather. The rooms are a little dated but clean and comfortable"

"When you pass through the castle gate, you expect unparalleled service. But unfortunately, this is not the case. We enter the restaurant room and there is no conviviality. The table is more like a cafe/bar. The dishes sound delicious on paper and on paper, but what a disappointment on the plate! The scallops in a court-bouillon are indeed court-bouillon in a dirty watery broth with insignificant grey radish – what a shame for such beautiful scallops! As for the pollack, it sits on a shapeless sweet potato puree, cooked on one side and cold on the other. The leeks were burnt to a crisp. On the other hand, the apple crumble was very good, but there were no small spoons for eating the whipped cream and Calvados, so we had to use the back of a fork. For the meat, please use proper meat knives, not IKEA-style ones. The champagne was served by the glass, not by the bottle in front of us 🤨 The waiter, dressed all in black, was competent, but his colleague didn't even wait for us to sit down before throwing the menu on the table without any explanation. As a result, we ended up paying €200. What a shame! We won't be returning and we won't be recommending this restaurant. Isabelle and Eric"

"The Manoir is set in well maintained grounds and provides a sense of tranquility and calm. Camille and Hugues provided a very warm welcome and were extremely helpful with suggestions of places to visit in the area. Our room was very comfortable with everything you would need and breakfast with local produce was perfect. We enjoyed being able to relax in the beautiful sitting room with the log fire, plenty of reading materials enjoying a gin and tonic! Would love to stay again."
