"Booked this hotel as a brief sleepover as my husband was taking part in the BYU. When we arrived at 8.45pm this kitchens were closed, which was a real disappointment as the food smelled wonderful. Not their fault we were later in arriving though but between the smell and the bar's aesthetic, I was sorry we couldn't experience it. When we arrived a young man who had actually finished his shift began to help us check in, which I thought was above and beyond and very kind of him. Faruq (apologies if I have misremembered your name) then stepped in to help. He was also kind, courteous and attentive, explaining that they had just recently bought over the hotel after offering to carry my bag up the stairs to room 5. That was also a nice touch and appreciated. The room was very pleasant, and I liked the fact that the bed sheets actually smelled freshly laundered. The only thing that needs mentioned as needing attention is that both the lamps that we used in the room flickered worryingly when first switched on. We didn't see any staff in the morning to report this (we used the key box) so hopefully these reviews are monitored so this is picked up on. My husband would have appreciated milk pods/sachets being supplied with the refreshment trays in the room - he's not a black coffee drinker, and also commented that the biscuit selection was tasty!"

"We stayed in a Double Deluxe room from July 28th to 30th, 2025. Our room, located on the top floor, had a wasp nest next to the only window. Within four minutes, we had five wasps in the room. We contacted the owner, who was aware of the problem and immediately showed us another room. There was another room available next door, but it wasn't ready. So we took the offered room. We were told, in a grumpy and unfriendly manner, that we either took this room or paid half the price of our four-night stay. The Wi-Fi antenna was hanging from the ceiling, a previous water damage hadn't been repaired, there was no ironing board or iron, no vanity mirror, and no ventilation or air conditioning. The windows could be opened without mosquito nets. Next to the room, there was a makeshift kitchenette with a coffee machine, similar to those found at a hardware store, shared by the entire floor. In our opinion, this only qualifies it as a three-star accommodation. However, the main issue was the owner's bossy excuses and commanding tone, along with his insinuations that we, as typical Germans, had no interest in chatting with Scotsmen at breakfast. The American flag in front of the main entrance also fits with the owner's behavior. We paid for all four nights in advance but left early. Afterwards, we stayed at the Glanapp Castle Hotel. That's a true five-star hotel. Never again will we stay at the Blervie House Hotel."

"As a solo traveller with 2 medium-sized collies, Macbeth’s Hillock was perfect for our 2 night stay. The pod is well thought out, with small thoughtful touches, though very compact in floor space & possibly challenging in roof height for those above 6 foot, in view of the triangular roof. But for my needs, it worked really well. - Good fixtures & fittings - Hot shower with good water pressure - All necessary ‘extras’ - soap by basin, washing up liquid, surface cleaner, washing cloth & tea towel. - Camping chairs, great for enjoying breakfast on the small decking area in front of the pod (I had beautiful weather!) - Excellent service & communication in the booking process with self-service check-in I found the bed a little firm but recognise beds are a personal thing & it was better than camping on the ground!! Also I could hear the noise of the A96 - not a major issue but as I live in a very rural area, I noticed it. And I loved the walk down the country lane from the site for the dogs! Overall, loved my stay & congratulate the owners on what they’ve achieved! It’s the little touches which make you realise they care."
