"We arrived unexpected and got the warmest welcome, 2 weary travellers. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and tidy,we got a lovely room and the staff couldn’t be more helpful. Good choice of breakfast and evening meal. and an easy walk into town. Beautiful Hotel and will definitely stay again should we be up that neck of the woods. Many thanks again for a lovely weekend. "Booked this hotel as a brief sleepover as my husband was taking part in the BYU. When we arrived at 8.45pm this kitchens were closed, which was a real disappointment as the food smelled wonderful. Not their fault we were later in arriving though but between the smell and the bar's aesthetic, I was sorry we couldn't experience it. When we arrived a young man who had actually finished his shift began to help us check in, which I thought was above and beyond and very kind of him. Faruq (apologies if I have misremembered your name) then stepped in to help. He was also kind, courteous and attentive, explaining that they had just recently bought over the hotel after offering to carry my bag up the stairs to room 5. That was also a nice touch and appreciated. The room was very pleasant, and I liked the fact that the bed sheets actually smelled freshly laundered. The only thing that needs mentioned as needing attention is that both the lamps that we used in the room flickered worryingly when first switched on. We didn't see any staff in the morning to report this (we used the key box) so hopefully these reviews are monitored so this is picked up on. My husband would have appreciated milk pods/sachets being supplied with the refreshment trays in the room - he's not a black coffee drinker, and also commented that the biscuit selection was tasty!"

"Beautiful home and property, but owner needs to get a grip on what "hospitality" is. Due to travel issues, we were late for our arrival and had to miss a scotch tasting our travel agent had booked for us. We notified them well in advance that we were likely to be late due to issues out of our control, etc. The next morning, the owner gave us a passive aggressive earful about it being rude that we were late (despite giving as much advance notice as possible) and also making clear that he does not like Americans. Other than him, the staff was completely delightful and we have no other complaints. It figures that he was one of only two unpleasant people we met in our 10 days in Scotland, both of whom were English (this fella claims Scotland as home, but you won't detect a trace of it in his accent or attitude)."

"Fantastic stay at Macbeth’s Hillock. We stayed the 2nd bank holiday in May and cannot fault it! So quiet , every amenity catered for. We brought loo roll/washing up liquid etc but it’s all provided. So comfy, and warm!! We didn’t need to use the heater at all, I needed the window open! Excellent, would highly recommend x"
