Hotel Helvetia

Hotel Helvetia

📍 Viale Kennedy, 15, Grado
★★★ 8.2 (2 reviews)

"This is a small family hotel of some 30 rooms, most with balcony, located a few hundred metres from the town centre and walking distance from the paying beach nearby. The hotel offers reliable wifi, a small refrigerator, and air conditioning. The rooms are somewhat dated and fairly basic, and there are some minor maintenance issues – the basin was partly blocked, the toilet flush tended to get stuck, the shower sprayed water all over the bathroom, etc. These could be checked and fixed by careful daily inspection of all the room’s facilities. Breakfast was great, with good choice and good quality. A great plus was that the hotel offered bicycle rental (first hour free!) and electric scooters at 2 Euro per hour. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Katarina, the receptionist. Overall, a pleasant stay, recommended."

Hotel Capri

Hotel Capri

📍 Via A. Vespucci, 1, Grado
★★★ 8.1 (30 reviews)

"3-day vacation with wife and son. Excellent base, well-maintained rooms, good breakfast with a wide variety of sweet and savory options, paid parking outside the hotel or free parking a short distance away, both on the street and in a parking lot. I'd say it's the best value for money."

Hotel Fonzari

Hotel Fonzari

📍 Piazza Biagio Marin, 6, Grado
★★★★ 7.2 (43 reviews)

"They were very nice as we got a bigger room than we ordered. Very nice gift in the room (panettone, champagne). Unfrtunately this hotel is a little bit old and poor quality for everything, everywhere... The room is old quality, so basic hotel... 3 star hotel rather than 4. The bar and restaurant were closed during this Christmas period. Breakfast was of excellent quality and generous. Once we kept him for a few nights but he was not our favourite..."

Hotel Antares

Hotel Antares

📍 Via delle Scuole, n. 4, Grado
★★★ 8.1 (18 reviews)

"A hotel with a very good location. Right next to shops, restaurants and pedestrian streets. Parking is also available in the hotel yard, perhaps at a slightly higher price. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was small, but quite functional. There was enough storage space and the room had a balcony. The furniture was old-fashioned and therefore not very comfortable. The bathroom is otherwise functional, but I would have expected the water in the shower to be warm and not lukewarm. The bed in the room was reasonable, so staying overnight was quite comfortable. The hotel's breakfast surprised me and it was rich and tasty. Overall a good hotel."

Hotel Villa d'Este

"The hotel is in a great location and the rooms and service are good, it also has its own car park ( you must book ) which is a big plus here as finding somewhere to park is not easy on Grado. Rooms are also air conditioned which is a plus on a hot day A good hotel overall"

"Stayed here for two nights, two adults and two kids. I’ll start with the positive: nice pool area, kids enjoyed it. Cabins are cute. Pretty quiet (unless you have loud neighbors), nice walk or bike ride into town. Front desk staff is helpful and friendly. Negative: cleanliness of the cabins. All surfaces have some sort of grease stuck to them. No washing-up liquid or sponge is provided, needless to say we used our own cutlery and plates. Kids slept by a spider web that included a pretty good size spider. Staircase was growing dust and hairballs combined. Shower needs to be rinsed, the water doesn’t go away. Towels are provided by the facility but they left you covered in lint when using them. There’s no coffee maker or toaster and only one knife (a bread knife). Walls are very thin. This is fine as long as guests respect each others need for down time. Also, somebody pooped in the pool. It was not in one place but every here and there in the kids play tower. They did not close down but kept open and let everybody play there while they cleaned and told no one. We suggested they’d close down for at least 30 mins and have the pool cleaned and chlorine shock the water, as would have been procedure in the nordics but no.. we left."

"Very nice hotel in villa near the beach. Very good breakfast in the garden. Main building is very nice and hope we will come back again. Parking. But it is recommended to book beach beds in advanced. The beach was sold out."

"The shower had no seal, so every time we used it the entire bathroom got flooded. The room had only an internal view, and the air conditioning fans were extremely noisy – it was impossible even to open the window. We complained and asked to be moved to another room, but we were completely ignored. The reception was practically never staffed, and when we finally spoke with the manager, he admitted that the shower seal had been ordered but would take time to arrive. When we asked why the room was rented out if they knew it was defective, he just shrugged his shoulders! The TV doesn’t allow you to watch Netflix or other streaming services without extra equipment. Overall, a huge disappointment – for the money paid, the quality was absolutely not acceptable. Even the rental bikes were in very poor condition, almost all broken. The hotel staff seemed completely uninterested in the guests’ needs."

"Quiet location in the "garden city", yet super convenient with the local bus stop right there by the post office. Good Spar supermarket very close, as well as an ok restaurant. The beach is quite close, too. Hotel reception extremely friendly and helpful, this is a family business. Really good buffet breakfast, especially by italian standards. Spacious balcony. ACCESSIBLE bathroom, including the shower- extra points for that . Ramp at the entrance, elevator. Everything nice and clean. Great about lending you bikes for free for shorter periods; reasonable rates for longer ones. Normal household fridge in the room, no silly minibar. Aircon worked fine. The mattresses could be a bit softer, but they were good enough. On the whole a clear recommendation; just try not to book last minute during high season for more humane pricing."

"I had forgotten my expensive sports glasses there. An hour after I sent an email, I received a reply saying that a logistics company had been commissioned to send them to me. Everything was great. Very friendly staff, good breakfast, excellent location."

Traveling with friends
Hotel Capri ★★★
"I stayed here with a group of friends during a cycling tour. From the first contact, the staff were very accommodating to our requests. The rooms were standard (a few minor issues (missing toiletries/non-working hairdryer), but nothing too serious considering the courtesy shown). The breakfast was excellent and very generous. Highly recommended."

"Generally to all considering this hotel - try to avoid. It's not worth the money, try any other hotel in the area. 1. Check-in / check-out - reception was good and smooth. 2. Parking service - very helpful, thank you very much! 3. The location is good: the city center. That's it for the good part, now the bad part. 1. Rooms are old and outdated. Beds are old, sofa was old, everything is 2000. Got no issues with the old style hotel but, some furniture is simply broken or extremely used. In my room there was a boiler installed in the closet. Was generating heat and noise. The bed frame was broken... Was twice fixing it myself, last time I gave up. Lots of drilled tiles, glue and cracks all over the bathroom. Like someone was doing repairs (which is understandable, and appreciated) but did not try to make it look nice after repair was done. 2. Last night before departure some strange insect appeared in the room. Felt like a radioactive cockroach from fallout or cockamouse from how I met your mother. It went back to the ventilation so I had to sleep with the lights on. I am not joking - it was huge, not a small bug. 3. The pool was closed. Yup. That's it. The hotel that has a pool has closed the pool because it's not ready for the season yet. No notice on the website or at any booking services. Talked at the reception, they advised me to write an official complaint... Did that - 3 weeks of silence. That brings me to the conclusion that hotel staff do not care about their reputation - they care only about income. If so one more reason to stay away. 4. Breakfast was so so. One morning we decided to have breakfast at the restaurant nearby :) Overall, guys seriously pick another hotel in the area. Do not bother with this one, there should be better options from the owners that care about their hotel, customers and reputation. This one does not, which is sad because it feels like the hotel was great 20 years ago."

"The hotel is charming and refurbished in the old town, freshly renovated rooms (for a price with sea view (!), hearty staff, enough space for bicycles (which only the cykel room is closed), You can come to the sea in bathrooms, so close it is good place for the completion of the Alpe-Adria trail"

Hotel Villa d'Este ★★★
"I was there in August 2023 and I liked it a lot. The room was functionally furnished. The breakfast in the partner hotel exceeded my expectations. The entire team was extremely friendly. The pool wasn't huge, but wonderfully refreshing, I really enjoyed the water. The hotel is a bit out of the way, but you can easily get to the center on foot. The only drawback: my refrigerator didn't work, which I reported several times to reception. Unfortunately, nothing happened."

Hotel Alla città di Trieste ★★★
"The room I received is basic, maybe needs a renovation, small but ideal for one night. With a look at the streets of the center. The location is excellent and comfortable. Good breakfast with a beautiful selection of sweet, fruit and salt. But the difference in this hotel is made by people. All of them are wonderfully friendly, available and propens to make the client comfortable, from the boy of the reception that welcomed us to the director meeting the next day, to the lady of breakfast. I would certainly advise you."
