"We used the travellers inn as we wanted to see the grisdale tarn and we needed to a room to stay after the sight. They allowed us to store our luggage at the inn as our check in was at 3pm. The rooms were clean and it overlooked a farm area with lots of sheep. The room had an aesthetic look and there was tea satchets we could have as well. The staff were kind and wonderful. The rooms had the britain charm you see in old english movies. If you love sheeps, kind people, good food and 80's british aesthetics- then this place is just for you. We loved our stay here."

"Having stayed in a number of YHAs over the past 18 months, Butharlyp Howe remains one of the best with a fantastic location in a beautiful building. The staff were all very friendly, the rooms clean and comfortable and the food was decent. Some excellent weather was also a massive bonus for a weekend at the Lakes. Perhaps I am highlighting my ignorance on these matters but I feel that the total cost of £215 for two nights in a 4 bed dorm with no en suite and breakfast on one morning was just about on the right side of affordable for us, thanks to 15% off (5% young persons/ 10% members). Looking ahead for future weekends, it would be over £200 for the Saturday night on its own, which seems a lot for budget accommodation. I worry that YHA are pricing out families at their current weekend rates and, with our 2 children being the only under 18s at the hostel during the weekend, perhaps that is already happening and seems counter to their mission. Overall we had a brilliant stay at a fantastic hostel, but unless we can manage a night midweek when it is significantly cheaper, weekend stays might well be beyond our budget."

"We stayed at Lake View for 1 night on 23rd March, after we had taken part in a sports event in Grasmere. We asked to have the room earlier than the usual check in time as we wanted to shower and warm up after the event. Although Lake View couldn't guarantee early access, the keys were there around 12.30pm which was perfect. We stayed in 'Treetop' which was absolutely lovely. He room is finished to a high standard with classic decor and high quality fixtures and fittings. The bedding was lovely and soft and little touches like fresh ground coffee with a cafetiere and hot chocolate make a big difference. The bathroom was large with a lovely oval corner bath (note; there is no shower in this room but that is the only thing I would add, oh and the addition of a full length mirror would also be helpful). Having said that, still a 5 star stay. Would highly recommend! 👍"

"The breakfast is plentiful, and main courses are available from a menu. Bread, coffee, and other refreshments are also self-service. The hotel is located in a beautiful area, suitable for those driving. The staff are warm and attentive!"

"Stayed for a weekend to celebrate birthday and wedding anniversary. We've stayed at Heidi's before and it never disappoints. Room's are lovely - spacious, clean and cosy. Breakfast was fabulous and nothing was too much trouble. All staff work really hard and they are all friendly and helpful....especially Craig!! Thank you for a lovely weekend."

"An absolutely gorgeous hotel. Beautiful spacious rooms with luxurious bathroom. Charming staff and delicious breakfast. They even have complimentary cake in the afternoon. Very central location but also very quiet. Would definitely recommend and would love to return."
