Hamlet Lodge Retreat at Calloose Holiday Park ★★★

"We stayed at the holiday park for several nights in August after spending a week near Newquay. The site itself is accessed by a fairly single track road which is easy enough to navigate with passing places. The reception and shop area are as you would expect, and the site itself appears to be clean and tidy. The food offer in the bar isn’t great and a lot of it is deep-fried without much of a healthy option to be found, unfortunately. The beers and the entertainment were caravan park class and we really enjoyed them. Unfortunately, a couple of our children didn’t get on with some others in the playground And it appears that the site tends to cater for regular seasonal visitors who believe they have the right to do whatever they please regardless of others. There’s a base in the area. This place is decent value and did what we needed it to do. The caravan was modern and cleanhowever we will probably look to stay elsewhere in future. If you’re looking to stay in this area then this site is perfectly good for a short break."

"Writing review on behalf of 4 pensioners who went for Sunday lunch. Service was appalling,waited over an hour for their meal. Seems waitress looked after friends n regulars before them as others got their meals before them, despite arriving later! No veggie option offered. No oap discount even though advertised. Sad as they go out every Sunday for lunch and they live in hayle so local too!! They are writing a letter of complaint, let's hope someone listens...sad"
