📍 Þrúðvangur 34, Hella

"Check in by yourself, the main door is not locked (but it is very heavy, you need to pull it hard), the room has a password lock; parking is convenient, you can park on the roadside (free) or in the hotel's own parking lot; the kitchen is fully equipped, but unfortunately there are not many tables and chairs; there is a small lounge, but not much public space overall; it is quite clean; the biggest drawback may be that the room is not big."

Loa´s Nest Guesthouse ★★★

📍 Árbæjarhellir, Road 271, Hella

"Very well located for exploring the surroundings of Hella. The friendly owners and the shared kitchen, along with its shared fridge, will make you feel right at home. The directions they give you will help you get to know this lesser-known Iceland. One of the places we would definitely visit again. Although they say they don't serve breakfast, they always have coffee to share and some magnificent waffles."

📍 RJM3+732, Dynskálar, Hella

"This hotel is alright. It's easy to find because it's located by the roadside. The rooms aren't big, but they're quite comfortable and quiet, and the water is hot. The hotel also has its own restaurant, which opens at 5:30 PM, and the breakfast is decent."

Aurora Igloo ★★★

📍 Stekkatún 1, Hella

"I initially thought the room would have a private bathroom and dining area based on the description, but it turned out to be a shared bathroom and dining table. If this is a concern, be sure to check the room type carefully. The snow hut I used this time was a very novel experience. You can see horses at the neighboring ranch, and flocks of sheep pass by in the morning."

"The location was good and the overall experience was excellent. The only downside was that the sauna temperature wasn't very high, more like a hot stone bath than a sauna. There was also a lot of dust under the bed in the room, which gave the impression that the room wasn't properly cleaned."

"This hotel is very clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was a typical European style with beans added for the Canadians and British guests. The beds are comfortable if like a firm mattress. My only issue was the shower was a wet room style and the floor wasn’t angled enough towards the drain but this is their problem since they have to clean up my water mess."

Fridge, microwave and stove. Private bath and heating to keep us warm. Able to watch northern lights from inside through ample windows."

"The restaurant was delicious; of all the hotels I've tried, this was the best. I was very satisfied, and it was also very quiet. One night they had a stargazing activity, which was a big plus – there were so many stars in the sky, and we even saw the aurora!"

"This was a unique stay, giving off a camping vibe. I was surprised there wasn't any staff on-site to greet us. Instead, they left the key in a common area for self check-in, and there's a number to call for assistance, so definitely have a phone plan with calls included. The common area was clean, with unlimited self-service coffee and hot water. It would be absolutely stunning if the sky were clear enough to see the Northern Lights!"
