"Unfortunately, I regretted booking this property. It was difficult to find a suitable hotel in Karaganda. I had originally booked Senator Hotel, and I should have kept that reservation instead. I was extremely disappointment with a check-in mishap that involved the front desk. I booked (2) suites, since I was hosting guests. My guests were to arrive a bit later, and staff was aware that I wanted my guests to be able to pick up their room key when they arrived. However, there was a problem when I tried to use my AMEX card for the room payment and deposit. Their card reader was unable to process my card, and the staff could not figure out why. I communicated to the staff that I had cash to pay for the rooms if necessary, but that I had a high preference for using my credit card. The staff advised me not to worry, said they would check with their administrator on the matter, and they sent me to my room. Unbeknown to me, when my guests arrived a short while later, the front desk staff demanded that my guests pay for both rooms. The staff explained to my guests that my credit card was not viable, and therefore my guests would need to make the payment before they would be allowed to check in. The only person who can speak decent English is Ali, Administrator. My guests had to go to the bank and get a loan to pay for the (2) suites. They did not inform me until the next day, and I was mortified. As far as the hotel itself, it was okay but not great. The lobby was spacious and nice... but our suite was very basic, and did not feel clean enough for my standards. Breakfast was not the greatest, but there are some American options. I recommend staying somewhere else in Karaganda. Private apartment rentals are nicer have a much lower price point."

"My father and I have been visiting Karaganda for the second year in a row, each time staying for a week at the Hotel Senator, which is undoubtedly one of the best places in the city in terms of location, service, facilities, and staff. The restaurant located within the hotel, Restaurant „Balkon“, is in no way inferior to this standard – something we rarely experience. Our highest respect goes to the entire team of Balkon - the elegant atmosphere, the tasteful interior, the excellent quality and presentation of the dishes – and especially the outstanding service, which is so rarely encountered nowadays, represented by Amina, Radion, and the “ruler” of the bar, Alexander. Special mention should also be made of Altair – simply outstanding! "Stayed for 7 days on business. The best thing is a gym adjacent to the hotel with a swimming pool, machines and a sauna. Very good wifi connection. Breakfast and food offer for dinner in the restaurant downstairs is nice overall as well. Rooms are standard but comfortable. The only thing is that aircon is noisy but can be disconnected. An excellent experience overall!"

"For such a remote location this has to be one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. Obviously very modern so the accommodation is of a high standard, but it is the staff who made this such a pleasant stay for us. This started from the outset when reception staff were happy to change the room which had been allocated, continued to the outstanding evening meal served in the restaurant (which was extremely good value), then on to the ease of arranging an early breakfast "to go" the next morning at 4.30am and finally with the housekeeping staff rescuing my coat and fleece which I had left behind in the room. This has to be the preferred place to stay if your travels take you to Karaganda, and we cannot recommend it too highly."
