Hipotels Hipocampo Palace & Spa

"Have you ever booked your honeymoon, paying for a 5 star hotel, and then arriving to find the whole hotel is under construction? None of the advertised amenities are available because, they too are under construction? Yeah me neither, until we went to Hipotels Hipocampo Palace this week. I rarely write reviews but I felt compelled to share this. We were blatantly misled (frankly lied to). When we requested to move to a different Hipotel property in the area we got put into a 3 or 4 star different hotel while still paying our original price. We lost an entire day of our honeymoon dealing with this, logistics and moving hotels. What did Hipotels give us for upending our honeymoon? A complimentary drink ticket and 10% off coupon at their restaurant. Buyer beware when booking here as the website is completely deceiving and off base (at least until construction is complete). However more disappointing was their lack of service and accountability."

"The hotel is not on sea front, but is only a few minutes walk to the beach. The rooms all over look the lovely swimming pool and well maintained gardens, there are ample comfortable sun beds, and a great pool bar serving food and drinks. The rooms are clean and comfortable and very quiet. The staff are fantastic, and can’t do enough to make you happy. The dining area is spacious and serves a good variety of food. Overall a excellent hotel and good value for money."

"We recently stayed for a week as a family. The room was cleaned daily with fresh towels, can’t complain. We did all inclusive one of the days which was good. The grounds and hotel itself it’s nice and clean. The pools games the children loved. We stayed for he entertainment one evening which was enjoyable. Staff all helpful and friendly. The only issue I had was on check out, I asked to use a shower prior to our flight home, which was on the evening. I was told we can use the spa facilities. We headed down and the whole place was absolutely wet through, there were not one single room dry to enable us to get dressed, also no towels (which I would have thought was a given) it was also absolutely red hot down there. Just generally very uncomfortable. I think maybe offering a room would be better, which is what we have been provided in other hotels."

"On the whole if you want to be in a hotel that is accessible to the beach front it’s ideal. We thought the room was too small for three of us. Not sure about hygiene ours floors were not cleaned daily. Also our daughter picked up a bug that was going around the hotel. Weather this is due to pool hygiene I’m not sure. Pool is busy during this time. Need to get down early to secure beds. Food was pretty good and staff were friendly and helpful. The lifeguard is useless he could control children in spa using floats. Due to the intense humidity we wouldn’t return."

"I’m so glad we haven’t actually stayed at this hotel, because if the front of house rude and disgraceful customer service is anything to go by, we will have had a lucky escape. Like a lot of people on holiday, if we’re passing a hotel we like the look of, we call in to take a look around. As an alternative place to book on our next visit to the resort. We go in to see what the restaurants, bars, communal and pools areas are like and if we get a chance to see what the rooms are like, and we always stay and have a coffee or something. On entering what looked like the reception area, which appeared unmanned at the time, we started to look around. My wife who is of a certain age, said “before we do anything else I need the loo.” As I said the reception was unmanned, we could see the ladies toilets, so my wife began walking in that direction. Just a that moment a heavily made up blonde haired woman appeared, and very abruptly and very rudely said “those toilets are for paying guests only!” There was no “hello, can I help you?” just you’re not using our toilets. Quite shocked at this persons rude attitude, I asked, “would you prefer my wife went in the street?” To which she replied, “the toilets are for paying guests only” So instead of investigating the hotels possible suitability for a future holiday, and hopefully sitting and having a coffee etc. we left in disgust and disbelief and thanked our lucky stars we’d never booked to stay there. Future guests beware, based on our interactions with this hotel, I’d definitely give this hotel a wide berth. Note to the hotel owners: If this person is the face or representative of your company she needs lessons in customer service or removed from such contacts."
