"Due to Xmas period there was no room service, housekeeping or restaurant available. This was disclosed 4 days prior to arrival. The rooms are old and the bed is certainly not a queen size. Our kettle didn’t work and due to limited staff s not replaced until our last day. We used a book to hold the power on for a coffee. Woken Xmas night to be evacuated, guests waited patiently outside for about 30mins to be advised false alarm we can return to rooms. No apology or compensation offered. Wont be rushing back"

BIG4 Mackay Blacks Beach Holiday Park
"This was the third stay for my wife and I at BIG4 Mackay Blacks Beach Holiday Park. We have returned to this park because it is a very pleasant caravan park. It is small, and the sites are compact but it is in a good location. This stay we managed to get a beachfront site. It was very long, so we had plenty of room to park our car in front of the caravan. The site has fake grass which is getting tired and worn. The beachfront site allowed us to walk straight out the back onto the beach. The downside of the location was the on shore winds! The park is about 1 minutes drive from shops etc, so it is necessary to drive to stock up. There are however, plenty of options within reasonable driving distance. Overall we give BIG4 Mackay Blacks Beach Holiday Park, 4 stars out of 5"

"We enjoyed the lovely pool and outside spa and the short walk to the beach, but overall our 3 night stay in the townhouse was disappointing. Both the single bed frames creaked loudly every time you moved which resulted in one person sleeping downstairs on the couch for 3 nights!! There was no shelf space to unpack, just hanging space in the main bedroom. The place could really do with a good spring clean as there is a moldy smell in the kitchen cupboards and main bedroom cupboards. There were no cereal bowls, so we bought our own and 2 extra coffee mugs as there was only one. Didn't manage to sit outside on the patio for long as the neighbors were smokers and we're not. Sorry, but we wont be back."
