"The Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences is about 50 kilometers from Jinghong city. Its East and West sections are quite large, and a full day isn't enough to explore everything. I'd read stories about botanists from the Academy before, so I made the botanical garden a priority and decided to stay at a hotel within it. The room rate I booked online included entrance tickets, which made it a pretty good deal for two people. After our rental car arrived at the East Gate, I called the hotel front desk, and they allowed us to enter. On the afternoon of our arrival, we explored the larger East Section's rainforest, which offered a stunning view of various rainforest vegetation. The hotel's restaurant was quite good; the local dishes at dinner were authentic, and I even saw family gatherings of XTBG staff – quite a change from how their predecessors lived! The next morning, we hired a guide and toured the different areas of the West Section. All in all, choosing to stay at the botanical garden hotel made this trip incredibly rewarding. Facilities: The in-room facilities met our needs, and the small balcony offered views of the flora and fauna. Hygiene: Clean and tidy. Environment: The botanical garden environment is unique and relaxing. Service: The front desk and restaurant service were excellent, and the breakfast offered a good variety, including local specialty snacks."

"Absolutely fantastic!! The receptionist was so nice; she not only explained the arrangements and routes for the market and rafting, but also proactively helped us with laundry issues. Her responses were always very prompt, helpful, and responsive. The hotel itself was also great; the view from the balcony was stunning, and it was very close to the market and rafting, plus a convenient drive to Wangtianshu! There's also a large dragon fruit orchard right at the resort entrance, which is incredibly beautiful at night!"

"I don't usually write reviews, but I'm giving this one a bad one. On my first day, they upgraded me to a family room, which I appreciated. When I used the toilet, I noticed a small stain on the toilet seat and used a disposable toilet seat cover, thinking I'd just make do. After showering, I opened my towel and found a hair stuck in it, which immediately annoyed me. The bed linens also had stains, but I tolerated it, thinking I wouldn't come back. They gave me two bottles of mineral water when I left. My child, who was originally planning to go to the botanical garden, couldn't get up and was late, so we changed our plans and went rafting on the Nanla River. When we got back, I thought I'd just stay one more night. When I booked the room at the front desk, it was crowded, so I didn't mention it. When it was less crowded, I mentioned the hair in my towel last night. After showering, I opened the towel and found another hair. I didn't want to say anything more. Then, I went to brush my teeth. I opened the box, and it was empty—nothing at all! They hadn't even refilled my toothbrush or toothpaste. I was completely speechless. Anyway, I think hygiene is the most important thing, and this is the first time I've encountered something like this in all the hotels I've stayed at."

"The hotel is conveniently located very close to the Chinese Academy of Sciences Botanical Garden, and there are plenty of dining options nearby. However, the room facilities were quite basic. The hot water for showering was insufficient, and the overall cleanliness definitely needs improvement. Additionally, using the washing machine costs 10 RMB per load, and the experience wasn't great."

"This is the most favorite hotel we have stayed in Yunnan. When we stay at the hotel, we can listen to the free explanation of the museum on the first floor. Mr. Sun's explanation is particularly professional, so that we have a deeper understanding of the tropical rainforest. The hotel room can overlook the mountains. Each room has an ecological cylinder and electron microscope 🔬, which is particularly fun and the bedding is very comfortable. It is highly recommended for big friends and children interested in nature to stay in this hotel!"

"The hotel environment is OK, but the tea set is placed on the small table next to the recliner in the room, which is very easy to break if there are children. If a teapot is broken, they said that because it is a full set, you must pay for the full set of tea sets, which costs 176 yuan. In addition, the breakfast supply is insufficient, the dining area is small, and the fruit is snatched."

"The hotel's facilities are quite new and clean, and the diligent cleaning staff were the only highlight of my stay. However, the front desk service and management were a disaster. Upon check-in, the male receptionist told me the room didn't include breakfast. When I asked if it could be complimentary, he suggested, 'If you leave a good review, we can provide it.' I immediately agreed, but for my three-night stay, I only received one breakfast voucher. When I asked why, his colleague (who seemed to be the duty manager or hotel manager) brushed me off with the excuse that 'two reviews only count as one.' This practice is truly disgusting. Either provide breakfast for all three nights or don't offer it at all; there's no need to placate guests in such a manner. In the end, I didn't even use that single breakfast voucher. Furthermore, I was assigned the most remote and smallest room. While I understand that room types might vary depending on the booking channel, the platform did not inform me in advance about location or size restrictions, nor did it clearly state the difference between the main and annex buildings. This room was also far from both the elevator and the laundry room, making movement even more inconvenient. What was even more disappointing was that the manager spent the entire time at the front desk playing on their phone, ignoring guests. When I extended my stay, another female employee was unfamiliar with even basic system operations, repeatedly asking for information that was readily available. The training here seems to be non-existent. The hotel is split into two buildings with no signage whatsoever. The elevators also lack floor directories, so I had to repeatedly try different options to find the correct building. The back building doesn't have direct access to the underground parking or the laundry room; guests have to walk around to the front building and then a long distance. The layout completely disregards basic guest needs and even poses safety risks. The chaotic front desk management, lack of service integrity, and severe flaws in the building's layout go far beyond ordinary service imperfections."
XI SHUANG BAN NA MENG YUAN PARADISE GREEN TREASURE HOTEL ★★★
"This was the most satisfying hotel I stayed at in Xishuangbanna. The hotel environment, the quality of the scenic area, and the service attitude of all the staff were all top-notch. All the other hotels we stayed at asked for our WeChat contact and followed up with positive reviews, but this hotel never proactively asked for a review. However, I still want to give it six stars. Our guide, Crow, was very professional, and he made us rainforest enthusiasts fall in love with the rainforest. In the evening, our family of seven ate at a private restaurant in the scenic area until 10 pm. We felt a little embarrassed, but all the staff said it was okay, and we could enjoy our meal. The most important thing was that the chicken stew was slowly simmering over a campfire in the dark forest – so atmospheric! The fireflies and stars in the sky made our trip very therapeutic. We were soaked to the bone, but the hotel had a powerful dryer, so we could enjoy ourselves to the fullest. The jungle trekking here is highly recommended, and the cave exploration was the most natural cave I've ever experienced. Delicious food! Clean rooms! Superb scenery! Most importantly, everyone from the hotel staff to the scenic area staff made our trip very comfortable!"

I ended up staying for another half day, and the owner was incredibly kind, offering to take me to the station without further ado. The service was truly heartwarming. "It was a perfect stop before passing the border of Lao. The employees are great and helpful. They could even provide us with some cash to be able to pay our visa at the border. The breakfast buffet was delicious, they even made something special for us as they thought we don't like chinese breakfast. The room was beautiful and very clean with a very nice view on a lushy green scenery. The bed was very confortable. They had already turn on the AC before we enter the room, that shows such a good service. There is a very good restauraurant "Jinsong..." just 5 min walk on the main road. Would recommend 100%"

Being among the first group of tourists to enter the scenic area meant fewer visitors, making it a truly worthwhile experience. The owner even thoughtfully provided instructions on how to use the air conditioning and toilet, along with other helpful tips."
